Reason to start The Challenge

Due to additional changes and work commitments, my wellbeing and exercise have taken a step back in the last 10 months. I have always enjoyed a fitness challenge and feel that I am in need of one! I am hoping that this challenge will be manageable to follow due to the availability of the training programme and meal plans online and that I will be able to tailor it to suit my daily schedule and achieve some results in the next 12 weeks.

What did you like most about The Challenge?

I enjoyed the structure, the routine, and the progression stages throughout the challenge. I also enjoyed having the daily food and exercise programme to follow and to structure into my days. The forum was excellent and informative in finding out more specific details about the daily food and exercise.

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

My working life is unstructured and varies daily from morning, evening and overnight shifts. I often lacked sleep throughout the challenge which would have impacted my workout intensity. I did however, follow each session diligently and still noticed gains in strength. It was often challenging to figure out what to eat and when to fit food, training and sleep into the day. I ended up looking at my overall day as a 24 hour period and worked on spreading my food out over the 24 hours rather than the standard 12 hour period. This often required extra time, thought and planning but on the whole seemed to work for me in staying on track.
I also have arthritis in one of my knees but found that I was able to choose alternate exercises when needed.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

The challenge has taught me that with enough structure, guidance, preparation and dedication; it is possible to manage a healthy lifestyle even when life is super busy. You just have to make it a choice to prioritise what needs to happen on a daily basis to reach the end goal. Also, with a clean and healthy diet and exercise goals to achieve; comes much better energy levels, and a happier and more satisfied me!

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

It is a very well structured programme and completing the 12 weeks is very achievable. Just like anything worth doing, it is never an 'easy' journey; but the challenge is designed to give you as much assistance as you need throughout the entire process. If you are thinking of participating in any health and fitness programme, I can confidently say you can't go wrong with this challenge! Overall, it is really quite a fun and satisfying 12 weeks!
