Reason to start The Challenge

I started this challenge because I want to push myself as hard as I can go! I am an extremely competitive person (especially with myself) and I want to become the absolute best version of me. I have been on a health and fitness journey for a year now and I feel like this challenge will give me a huge push to achieve some goals that I have set for myself. I am 27 years old this year and I have set a goal to enter in a bikini/fitness body comp by the time I am 30. I also have many strength goals in the gym that I would love to reach and I especially need help reigning in my nutrition. I am excited to see where these 12 weeks will take me. Bring it on!!

What did you like most about The Challenge?

I loved the sense of community and support. Going into this challenge I didn't know anyone and now I feel like I am part of a big fit family of likeminded people that just support one another. The positive comments and uplifting one another has been something that has really stood out for me. The nutrition plan was wonderful to follow and I especially loved the "recipes" that you could swap out. The food was not boring and I have learnt so much about what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat. The forum was particularly fantastic as I knew I had that safety net and the coaches were always willing and able to offer advice and support. Most of all I enjoyed the training, it pushed me to my limits and has truly showed me what I am capable of.

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

The hardest part of the challenge for me was nutrition, not the actually food I was eating but the fact that my family (husband and two children) weren't eating the same things that I had. I would end up having to cook three meals some nights which would be quite frustrating. My husband would have all sorts of naughty treats in the cupboard also and even preparing the kids meals I didn't realise how much I would pick at their food or finish off there leftovers before I started the challenge. I tried my best to stick to the plan. There were a few slips here and there but I am so happy with my efforts. I also found social outings difficult but they were essential in building up my will power. I still went out to lunch with friends and special parties and occasions but I just had to be prepared and plan what food I was going to eat and when. Most of the time people are very supportive but sometimes there was the odd comment like "one wont hurt", "you've done so well treat yourself" and "vodka and soda water wont hurt, go on have a drink."

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

My life has changed for the better. I feel so much more energised and have a zest for life. I have noticed a significant improvement in my skin, it feels so smooth and I don't have any breakouts anymore. I have an enhanced appreciation for my body and the things that it can do, I workout to celebrate what my body can do NOT to punish my body for something I have eaten. This challenge has helped prove to me that I can do almost anything I put my mind to and I find that such a liberating thing. I have become a stronger, healthier, fitter and most of all happier person. I attribute that to this amazing process.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

I would fully support anyone thinking on joining the challenge. By no means is it an easy feat but the rewards are worth the effort. If you are really willing to work hard and put in the effort you will be successful, there is so much support and information to get you through to the end and you are not alone in your journey. it definitely is a "challenge" but like they say nothing worth having ever comes easy. If you want to become the best possible version of yourself join in on the amazing community and your life will be changed for the better. We only have one life, why not work on the most important thing you have.....you!

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

I just want to say thank you. This has been such a whirlwind experience and I am so glad I signed up. The support and encouragement from the entire Max/Maxines community has been absolutely amazing and I am now equipped with the knowledge to further pursue a fit and healthy lifestyle. I am so extremely happy and Its all because of this experience. Thank you Thank you Thank you for such an amazing 12 weeks.

What an experience! I'm so happy to have made it to the finish line! At times it's felt so easy and others it's been extremely hard but this challenge has definitely proven that consistency is key. Get up. Show up. Try your best. I love the sense of community in Maxine's challenge. It's so nice to be connected with like minded people who uplift everyone. I have not received one negative comment throughout this entire process. My body Fat percentage started at 20.2% and to now be at 16.6% blows my mind. (My goal was 16% by week 12 but I am still very happy with the result). These 12 weeks have pushed me to my limits and I have proven to myself that I am capable of almost anything. What a feeling! Congratulations to everyone and all the best with your future aspirations fit health, fitness and most of all happiness. Peace out x

Last leg day completed today! The feeling is unreal. Two sessions to go :) I also got a fit bit as a gift to myself for completing the challenge and it will keep me on track once I don't have this wonderful group and training/nutrition to keep me hungry for results. Pretty happy to hit 20,000 steps. Bey active day. (A game of hockey with only 9 players pretty much made up half of this) lol 2 days. Heading off to get my tan now :) how exciting x

Today has been a crazy day. I woke up on the back foot and it just put me in a bad mood. I did a 40 minute walk on the treadmill on an incline (that really gets me sweating πŸ˜…) and then took my kids to play group. I was just feeling flat. I'd had two coffees at this stage of the day and my mood wasn't improving. I walked to the gym and then completed my arms, back and shoulders workout (last one for the challenge!) and my day completely changed after that. I felt energized and strong and just got my zest back! I really feel that the gym is just going to be a way of life for me! It makes me happy and gives me a huge sense of accomplishment. I just love it! I also went to my first ever yoga class and enjoyed it very much. Just what I needed to wind down after a big day. I feel like a have had a nice reset and my body is keen to hit my last legs session tomorrow :).

5 days to go! Yesterday I did my last "legs A" session at the shed and the feeling I had when I ticked that last box was amazing. I can't wait to fully complete all of my sheets of paper and look back on them and say I did that! Today I did an incline walk on the treadmill (40 minutes) and my shoulders, arms and abs workout. I have loved the training so much in this challenge. It's pushed me to my limits and many times I have almost talked myself out of finishing a workout BUT I've completed every set and every rep so far to the best of my abiluty!!! The nutrition has been extremely hard. Not that I don't like the food I am eating it's just the temptations that you face in every day life that make it difficult. Having kids and a husband that aren't following the same food plan as you is extremely hard (especially when I have my steak or chicken when they have a nice creamy pasta starting into my soul!) I can't say my food has been as spot on as my training but I have tried very hard to stick to the plan as much as possible. 5 days left. Eat well Train hard Let's finish on a high note x

So I had a hens party this weekend!!! It has been stressing me for a while because I knew it would be hard BUT I am so proud of myself. I woke up early and got my arms, shoulders and abs gym session done (walked there from my house too!) The amount of food that they have had today has been unbelievable and I am so happy to say that I didn't cave in to anything naughty!!!! There was cob loaf, baked cheeses with pita crisps and beetroot relish, bikkies, dip, party pies, sausage rolls, caramel slice, potato chips, chocolate freckles and caramel drops and sweet potato chips (the bagged kind that get deep fried) during the night oh and also a big lunch out before the group hit the wine tour!! I sat there while everyone ate lunch and sipped on my water (ate my orange and almonds before we left) and also packed a protein bar for the bus tour. I had plenty of girls try and pressure me to drink and I didn't touch a drop and to be honest I'm so happy I'm not going to wake up with a hangover tomorrow or a terrible tummy ache from overeating and NO guilt! I absolutely devoured my chicken rice and spinach and had a protein shake during the night and that helped me see the night through with no splurges :) I hope this type of will power carries on after the challenge because even though it was extremely hard thinking I was missing out I still had a really good time and i won't feel terrible tomorrow. Win win in my eyes!

Failing to prepare is preparing for failure! I've got all my snacks and food and protein ready for my hens weekend! (Even packed a bowl a knife and a fork and spoon just in case the place we are staying at doesn't have any utensils there) I've managed to ask mum to have the kids so I can fit my workout early before we leave and I will get my conditioning in the night when we get back. I've got this!

Still under the weather today but it's not terrible just a head cold so I'm pushing through :) cardio today was a fat burn class and then my husband asked me to go out to lunch with him as we had a rare day without the kids or work so I said yes. Stuck to challenge approved foods and stopped eating when I was full. Definitely a win today. X talk tomorrow

Cardio/chest arms and abs βœ… did a HIIT class for cardio and it was hard as I am a bit under the weather (snot everywhere ha ha) warm vanilla protein and apple and ginger tea have gone down a treat though. Chocolate protein yoghurt was also very tasty!! This weekend is going to be trying as I have a hens night away with friends!!! I feel there will be a lot of pressure to drink. I don't even want to though so I'm pretty sure I will stay strong... it's just fitting in my upper body workout that will be the hard part.... it's too close to the end to let anything slip so I WILL make it work! Last workout done for this week!!!!! 14 to go. Wow! Only 14 gym sessions left and this challenge is complete. Scary and exciting at the same time. This weekend hasn't been great on the nutrition side but I am still learning. I went in to this challenge wanting to reign in my eating habits and I have definitely done that. Looking back on the me 10 weeks ago and the me now I can definitely say I have made positive changes that will hopefully see me make more changes to better myself in the future. Feeling happy (and sore :) but in a good way) !!!!! X

Cardio βœ… Back and shoulders βœ… Workouts are hard with the big sets but I am enjoying it! Hungry still! Always hungry. Food was not perfect today:/ i came unstuck in the afternoon. (Right on cue). Be prepared tomorrow and eat only what's on the plan!!!! The guilt of a bad food choice isn't worth it. I am only human BUT I am better than this and that's why I'm a little angry at myself. As they say though "don't cry over spilt milk" I will clean that shit up and move on.

Starting the day off right!!!! Setting myself up for a good day. 1 full egg 2 egg whites cooked in olive oil for my fats. Served wth spinach! And a side of kiwi fruit πŸ₯ as my choice of fruit. 40 minute full incline walk on the treadmill for my cardio. This was hard! Off to a kids indoor play center today. This always tests the will power so I will save my morning cup of tea and have it there so I have something to do other than think about eating all the food that my kids and friends get!! Talk soon

Legs today. I really enjoyed today's workout. I felt in the zone!!! It's nice having a count down of days... keeps me motivated and looking forward to something. I always love having something to be excited about, gives me energy and a zest for life!!!! I also did a fasted walk on the treadmill as a bit extra this morning just to get the fat burning... but I'm thinking I might not do this anymore as today I have been extra hungry!!! I've stayed pretty strong BUT sadly had some of the kids crust from their toast (sooooo gooood) and a few corn thins (my nemisis!!) but moving forward. Reset. All of my other food today has been spot on so happy with that. Still half a burn bar and night time shake to look forward too!!!! Count down hits the teens tomorrow!!!! CRAZY. Mixed emotions about that. On one hand I'm excited for the challenge to finish but on the other I don't know what I'm going to do with my life when I am finished. This challange has consumed me (in all good ways of course ha ha X)

I have a friend who asked me to do a shoot for her blog/photography page. I was soooo far out of my comfort zone (power to the fitness models and people who do that for a living) I can't do that motivated gaze that they have down pat!!! Lol but she wrote some beautiful words and promoted my fitness Instagram account and hopefully people will feel motivated to make a change because I am so glad I have decided to do that for myself!!! I've honestly never felt better about myself. Lots of temptation today. I slipped a smidge but nothing that I am ashamed of. A few extra sweet potatoes at dinner isn't the worst I have ever done. Afyer my legs B session and hockey yesterday and Hockey today and arms chest and abs my body is well and truly ready for a good nights sleep! Ready to keep at it tomorrow xxxxx

Not feeling it today but I still showed up. I always find it a bit tricky the first session of the new phase as I'm not sure how heavy I should really be lifting?? But my arms are definitely sore so I must have been doing it right! The plate windmills are HARD!! But I watched myself in the mirror and the amount of muscles that this move uses is insane... oats for breakfast apple and almonds morning tea, protein shake post workout and chicken spinach and rice for lunch. Day is on track so far. Talk tomorrow x

Trying to keep everything as simple as possible. 2 egg whites 1 egg 1 tablespoon of avocado and my piece of fruit was kiwi fruit πŸ₯ (yum) black coffee also. Morning snack- burn bar (yum) Lunch was 1 cup of sunshine soup with 100g chicken Afternoon snack- protein shake Dinner- steak and cos lettuce and 50g sweet potato chips (I pretended the lettuce was bread and had a steak sandwich lol) Night time snack- cup of English breakfast tea, 5 large strawberries and protein shake. It was cardio today so I completed a xfit class (1 hour) my husband was off work so it was nice not having to get the kids ready and take them with me. This is such a crazy experience and throughout the day I am emotionally all over the shop. Doubt sets in and I think to myself "what if you aren't happy with your end result?" Or "what if you can't maintain this and you will feel like a failure?"... little thoughts that slip through my positive facade and try and derail me......its hard to keep them and my emotions at bay but I am powering on and WILL see this through until the very end and also try my hardest to keep at improving myself no matter what long past when this challenge is finished. I am here and I am worth working on myself and loving myself inside and out!

Cardio and chest arms and abs today! Started my morning with fasted HIIT class. My legs were a bit sore from yesterday's new leg program so it was a bit of a struggle but I got through it and then went straight to the gym to complete my upper body. Morning tea of orange and almonds was sensational! I love citris fruits πŸ˜‹ 🍊 πŸ‹ Didn't get a great sleep last night so feeling very tired at the moment.... will aim to get to bed a bit earlier tonight to help recovery.

This is it! The last phase of maxines challenge!!!!! I started the day with my protein oats and "americano" coffee with a dash (and I mean a dash) of skim milk... this is huge for me!!! Before this challenge I would have cappuccino's with a full lid of hazelnut or caramel syrup!!! Now this, I feel very proud of myself. Breakfast called for oats. I could honestly eat oats every morning!! Absolutely love them. I also wrote in the forum for the first time with a question about nutrition. I have been cooking lots of the maxines recipes which I LOVE!!! And always try to replace the meal on the plan as close as possible. But now it's the tail end of the challenge I thought I would ask if I should be cooking these or sticking to the plain chicken and steak (unfortunately I don't do fish or tuna). And turns out it's best to stay as simple as possible in these final weeks... lucky I didn't do my huge prep that I was thinking of doing. I still have a few meals left from my last (turkey burgers, satay chicken, beef stew and sunshine soup) so I will keep these in the freezer at hand for when the plain ol' chicken and steak just isn't hitting the spot. It's nice to have the forum to ask these questions so there are no doubts. The coaches got back to me so quickly too!! I feel as those these next four weeks are going to be the hardest but most rewarding. Let's do this!

Leg day- the last leg day for phase 2!!!! Very keen to change things up a bit. It's a great feeling looking at all the gym sessions I have done. Every box filled in βœ… (still have one more upper body and a conditioning workout to go and then I can start my fresh sheets!!) exciting times. I went shopping with the husband today as it was payday... always hard when he comes because he gets lots of naughty treats and bad food and now I have lots of temptation in the cupboard and fridge.... stayed strong today and I'm hoping my determination to succeed lasts! Planning to do my photos on Sunday.... maybe tomorrow if I get time. Not sure if there will be too much change but I am hoping the last photo will be a good transformation so working for that.... just a check in point so I don't need to put so much pressure on myself... I just need to try my best and what will be will be.

Today was my cardio day. I wanted to go for a run as I don't even remember the last time I had gone for one (I used to be a huge runner, got up to 19km but my sisters partner opened my eyes up to the world of lifting and I love it !!) so I had all intentions to hit the pavement to change things up a bit but after doing some jobs down town I really didn't feel like seeing the world so stayed indoors and got on the treadmill and put on some Netflix.... turns out my treadmill doesn't go well when you want to run on it.... the belt thing felt like it kept slipping under me so after 10 minutes of frustrated running I decided to try another day and just do a long walk... ended up getting 9km so very happy with that :) Lunch was the Maxine's challenge "sunshine soup" with a side of chicken for my protein.... absolutely delicious! Highly recommend :) and of course my peppermint tea that helps me through the day. Happy with myself and all I have achieved today. Hope to back it up and do it all again tomorrow! Talk soon

Cardio and upper body today!! Fasted 30 minute HIIT class followed with my arms session at the gym. Felt great today even with the kids in the gym with me. Food is on my mind constantly! Temptations everywhere (especially when you have kids and a husband that doesn't even try to eat what you are eating or really care that I am doing the challenge). So I've decided to write on my bored any extra things that I eat off plan so I can physically see it and walk past it everyday which might make me think twice about eating anything off plan. Yesterday for example I had the leftovers of my kids smoothies (banana and honey and berry) they were on full cream milk so a little naughty but it stopped me from snacking on anything really bad all afternoon. My husband bought all of this naughty food the other day (Pringles, laminations, coke and CARAMEL SLICE!!) and I asked him to please leave it on his work bag so I can't see it but as soon as I open the cupboard I see that god damn caramel slice staring into my soul!!!! I didn't cave though so in a different coloured texta I am going to right on my board the temptations that I have been faced with and haven't caved in to which makes my little sips of smoothie and handful of popcorn not bad at all! So yesterday I was tempted with all of my husbands naughties plus ice cream chicken carbonara, cheezles, toast. And today's will include- dukaroos, chips and gravy, fairy bread, iced coffee (my sister she deserves this though as she only popped a baby out 5 days ago lol) her Turkish melt and lollies. Proud of myself for staying strong and sipping my English breakfast tea and eating my burn bar. Had protein yoghurt for breakfast after I had my protein shake post workout and now have my steak and sweet potato chips with spinach ready to devour!!!! Go me!!!

Started week 7 great but the last two days began to derail with a few extra snacks ... not too upset though as I am prepped and ready to hit week 8 hard (especially with the looming progress shots). H U G E day yesterday. My sister had her baby (both healthy and well) and I got to be in the labour room. It was so amazing seeing everything from the other side. I was organized and packed 2 burn bars and also a shake after having my oats and tea for breakfast.... they got me through the day because there was no time to heat up meals etc to eat, quick and easy shake or bar was amazing (they had all of these snacks in the room.... I'm talking pringles and snakes, the whole shebang!) so proud I stuck to my guns through such a hectic time. When I got home I was STARVING and scoffed my bolognese and spinach in sooooo fast... I nearly went to the kids snacks section in the cupboard because I needed an extra bit of food but I went for some raspberries instead and then finished my day with a protein hot vanilla. I can't believe through such a crazy day I still stuck to the challange... I class that as a huge win... woke up feeling extremely lean today so thought I would take a pic for progress :) I have stuck to the plan since Monday so pretty happy with that....not one corn thin or kids snack!!! (This is a big deal for me) I usually cave in to something.... I will try and keep this momentum up and great results should soon follow.... found leg session hard today but I'm thinking that's because I had a pretty big day yesterday (obviously not as big as my sister) I actually thought of the pain she went through yesterday and compared it to my workout and it helped me get through, I kept saying "this is nothing compared to what she went through yesterday!) lol push!!! Ha ha

Half way!!! Wow. How exciting. Reaching milestones really gives you an extra boost to keep going and push hard. I feel motivated again and I love it :) Yesterday for my cardio I chose to do the beep test again (this time with the right measurements of 20m NOT 15m) I didn't get a personal best, my phone wouldn't let me click stop but I think I got around 8.7 (PB is 9.1) so I wasnt that far off. Ultimate goal is to reach level 10 so I will keep pushing. Love striving for little personal goals. Today was leg day and as much as I dread leg days this was probably my best one yet. (Must be that new found motivation) however I do need to get my squats that extra bit lower. I'm up to 72.5 kg box squats x5 (4 reps) and 65kg safety bar squats x12 (4 reps) and I am just not happy with the depth so I will keep at theee weights until my form is a bit better and then build from there :) PB with hip thrusts today though 57.5kg so close to the 60kg!! Yay. Also love that I finally feel confident enough to wear a crop top to the gym (it's only a home gym so I'm the only one there) but still it's nice to look down and not be ashamed of what I am looking at. Worth all of this hard work!!! 6 weeks to go! You want this, don't make it hard on yourself just Stick to the plan!!

    10:44 PM

Huge prep this weekend! I feel like the first four weeks of this challenge I did such a great job but week 5 and 6 have been a struggle food wise, cravings and lack of will power has resulted in a huge plateau. I have lost momentum and I feel that this prep is really going to give me the drive I need!! 10x satay chicken (adding zoodles when reheating) 5x spaghetti bolognese (adding spinach when reheating) 4x Mexican bowls (adding 1/4 avocado when reheating) 5x minute steak (seasoned but uncooked as they literally take a minute) 6x chicken breast (seasoned and cooked) 8x turkey burgers (will have in cos lettuce leaves like a burger or with salad or spinach) Plus I have ingredients to make Beef stew Sunshine soup All these recipes I got from the Maxine's challenge recipes and love them!!! With all of these meals prepped I now have variety to keep me happy and all the hard work is out of the way. (If only i didn't have to cook for my husband and kids too!) So when I went shopping to buy all the ingredients it cost me $150 I will probably get 45-50 meals out of this big prep (depending on how many meals I get out of my stew and soup that I have yet to make) but really that's like $3.00 a meal!! $150 for 3 weeks lunch and dinner sorted! Eating healthy really doesn't need to be expensive at all. Get your act together and push as hard as you can go. Don't cave in to stupid cravings they will only make you feel worse in the long run. Stick to the plan. If you are hungry GOOD you need to be hungry, hungry to work your arse off and kick some goals to smash out these last 6 weeks to the best of your ability. You are better than these last two weeks!

All ready for a big prep this weekend!!! Hopefully this will get my eating back on the right track, I have definitely strayed and need to reel myself back in. I went to the shops today for just myself (no kids snacks and no husband junk food) it was so nice just shopping pretty much in the veg/fruit and meat section. Definitely know you are eating the right stuff when you steer clear from the isles and processed food. Game of hockey tonight for my cardio (short a few players again) so a full 60 minutes of running. Plus my sister is 5 days overdue with a baby (I get to go in the room with her when she has it) so I also did a walk on the treadmill first thing in the morning just in case she went into labour! Still nothing but hopefully very soon. X

Sooo my husband got us some new phones and somehow my new phone got all of these old pictures and videos (must have been in iCloud or something) any who, I looked through all the old pictures and found this "before" picture I took about 3 months after having my second child. I wanted to put this in my journal because I have had some bad days during this challenge (like eating completely the wrong types of food... self sabotage I guess you could call it) and I have started to beat myself up about it, especially when I see so many posts about people's nutrition being 100% for the whole challenge so far.... it's got me how they have done it, power to them but I just couldn't do it and it really was starting to get to me. But when I saw this picture I thought back to the person I was in this picture. Someone who didn't work out, someone who was lazy and someone who made excuses.... I'm not that person any more. I work hard and I am only human and I will make mistakes... the difference now is that after mistakes I pick myself up and dust myself off, reset and start again. Today has been much better Cardio βœ… upper body βœ… healthy food choices βœ… (simple steak spinach and tomato for lunch was amazing) x

Legs today! I did do my beep test yesterday but accidentally did 15m instead of 20m!!! Gah... I thought something was up once I got to level 10 lol hit 13.2 I think and thought "surely not" then googled "how long is a netball court?" 30.5m not 40m oh well not to worry. Got my cardio in and I can just try again next Sunday with the right meters lol. Still hungry all the time, not sure if that's ever going to change... it's probably going to get worse as the challenge progresses so I just need to suck it up!

Lying in bed very stiff and sore! Nice weekend with 2 games of hockey (one Friday night and one today) and an upper body session in the gym also. Tomorrow is cardio and I am thinking of doing the beep test and a few sprints for that. I love exercise and I don't find it hard work. I don't struggle to get ready or push hard because I enjoy chasing that feeling of "I've done something with my body today". Food on the other hand has always been my downfall. Subconscious snacking, boredom, chasing a crunch of something or simply sugar cravings have hit hard this week and I do feel a little down and upset at myself for not stopping myself when I have caved to bad food choices. I'm Definitely over eating and I need to somehow stop this! My days start off fantastic! Love my oats and I always measure the perfect amount!!! Morning snack of my burn bar or apple and almonds are great!! But after lunch I am sooooo hungry, My teas (2 a day one peppermint and one English breakfast) protein hot chocolates and coffee (strictly one a day 1/2 coffee 1/2 milk) are helping a lot but I still reach for extra things in the cupboard. Not sure how I am going to stop this. I guess I just need to really work on my will power. I need to be strict on myself, no one else is going to do this for me! Come on, step up your game!!!! Start fresh tomorrow and push push push... you want this bad enough you will succeed! Get a bit of fire In your belly!!! Come on. Suck it up now or suck it in later.

I have been on a fitness journey for a year now, and I am a sucker for progress shots. I'm so proud of these pictures and the person I have become. This challenge has really boosted my drive and I can't wait to see what the next 8 weeks bring. Today I did fasted cardio and attended a fat burn class then did a 10 minute run to the gym and completed an upper body workout. The pain in my picture is real lol it's going to hurt tomorrow!!!!! 67.5kg

This is what I am stoked about!!!!!! Did my body fat percentage and muscle quality and for the first time both have said that I am in the "athletic" range! I feel the best I have ever felt. Strong, fit and healthy! So happy :) I have always wanted to get my body fat percentage between 18-20% it's finally great to hit some goals. Now to re asses and make new goals. Hoping to drop at least 1 more % by week 8 check in and also better my fitness test again. Hitting an 80kg squat would be sensational also :) and bench press DB 20kg. Tbar row 35kg. Bicep curl bar+15kg. Step ups BB 40kg. Deadlift 100 (12 reps). Straight leg deads DB 25 each hand (10 reps). Single arm rows 25kg (10 reps). Shoulder press DB 15kg. Hip thrusts 60kg. Weighted lunges BB 35kg. Chin ups 10 unassisted! I can do this! Reign in nutrition even tighter. No snacking on kids leftover food, no "one tiny teddy won't matter" try your best. Stay positive. Before and after pics. Scales are so unreliable when I did my first picture I had my period so was very bloated and the scales reflected that, so even though I have "lost" 6.3kg I don't take that as any reference for my future I will stick to my body fat percentages to work from, will post that next since you. Yesterday came with plenty of temptations! My husband had a night out and asked me to get him some KFC!!! So hard (kfc is my kryptonite) but I powered through those cravings and had my chicken and sweet potato. I was also at a morning tea with my sister and Mum, scones jam and cream another thing I LOVE, I was prepared and took my burn bar and opted for a peppermint tea as I had already had my English breakfast tea in the morning. My coffee has now graduated to half milk half coffee nothing else which I am proud of (I used to have a full cap full of sweetener before this challenge!). Little steps which will lead to great lifestyle changes that I think will definitely make a difference. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of my dinner which was steak and salad and that is all I ate for that day so very happy to finally kick my corn thin addiction lol keep tying not to eat those extra things.... don't get down on yourself if you do slip up just try your best!

Plank was 1minute 50 sec. ticked every single one of my workouts for the first 4 weeks so I definitely see that as a great accomplishment! Stoked.

Nearing the end of the first phase of the challenge. Reflecting back on the last four weeks and can definitely say I am proud of my efforts!!! A few slips here and there but nothing that derailed me :). Starting to see subtle changes and feel very trim in the mornings probably due to the fact I'm not feasting on crap late at night!!!!! Very happy with that change. Today I tried chocolate oats for the first time and enjoyed them, they were a nice change from the vanilla (but vanilla is still my fav) so for my protein hot chocolate I thought I would swap flavs with that too so a vanilla hot chocolate it was πŸ‘Œ Will post my progress pics on Sunday I think :) I'm going in with an open mind, I know my pics won't show much of a change but the way I feel inside is well worth the effort so I will keep powering through!

My husband and brother in laws birthday party is on tonight. I was on cake duty, this is my "death by chocolate cake" I went in thinking I could make this sucker without having one taste of anything. I failed. However I don't feel too bad, I could have done a LOT worse, I just had a few licks of the fingers and taste tests. It actually made me feel a bit ill which is a good sign!!! We are all human. my day health wise was actually pretty spot on so maybe that's why I'm not feeling too bad. I still had my oats for breaky, my apple and almonds for morning tea, my protein shake after upper body workout (ran to the gym for 10 minute warm up and walked home) and then turkey burger with lettuce for lunch. The walk was beautiful today and I took the time to really appreciate my health and the fact that my body is able to do this challenge and that I am healthy and happy! Very lucky. I will keep on grinding and never let a slip up set me back. I will strive to Keep moving forward and being consistent with good choices. Happy to be here.

I started off my day with a fasted cardio Xfit session (1 hour) it was insane!!! It was a "matrix" challenge so you would do the first two activities, then do them again and add in the next two and keep adding until you got up to the 50!!! Sooooo hard but good feeling when I completed it :) 5xsprints with 5xburpees 10xchin ups with 10xhigh box jumps 20xpush ups with 20xmed ball slams 30xweighted squats with 30xpush bar ups (forget what they are called lol) 40xmed ball wall throws with 40xweighted Russian twists 50xdips with 50xweighted lunges Finished with 100 pop squats! I also got asked out to lunch today so I decided to eat my breakfast quite late so I was full and ordered a peppermint tea and a long macchiato with milk on the side!!!! Very happy with myself :)

I still smashed out my session though. Now lunch then work, it's nice to know the hard yards of the day are behind me :) Food is going well. Today I have been on fire!!!!! Yesterday is but a distant memory. I just cooked three lots of meals and ended up getting 17 meals out of all this!!! 5x bolognese 8x turkey burgers (4 dinner size 150g and 4 lunch size 100g) and 4x pot chicken (2x lunch 100g and 2 dinners 150g). When talking to people about this challenge many people turn their noses up at it and say "there is just too much cooking involved" well guess what, I don't have to cook for a week!!!!! 2 hours in the kitchen today has just freed up my whole week :) brilliant! I also have 4 minute steaks in the fridge so really I am set for two weeks worth of food! (Bring on check in!) today calls for cardio and I have a game of hockey tonight (oh man it's going to be cold ❄️!) and I think we are short a few players so 60 mins of full on hockey should definitely tick that box!!! Sport is the absolute best cardio, you don't even feel like you are doing it (until you stop that is ha ha). See the mug in the picture, it's my choc protein with water warmed up in the microwave. I'm calling it my "hot chocolate" tastes so good and perfect for winter days like today!! Hope you are all powering through this challenge. Don't stress about set backs, I had a huge one yesterday but we will all push forward together and cross this finish line happier and healthier versions of ourselves. Let's do this!

Late night gym session complete βœ”οΈ Today has probably been the worst day so far in the challenge. I started off so positive and in control and even wrote me little "TEMPTATION" diary entry and how proud of myself I was, and then I just hit this low point in the day where the lack of sleep from being up with my son all night hit me and I got lazy and instead of just getting my lunch ready (because I knew I was hungry) i munched on a fair few corn thins :( then to make matters worse after lunch I felt so bad about going off track that I ate a packet of tiny teddy bikkies (they tasted great sadly) and this was after I though I'd get rid of last nights chocolate by giving it to the kids and proceeding to PUT SOME IN MY MOUTH and chew it but at the last minute I thought "what the hell am I doing" and i spat it out (shame) and you know what I was still hungry/emotional and sabotaging myself and before I could reach for something else I decided to have another coffee (still milk but today was my last one and tomorrow I am attempting to switch to long macchiatos) this did help until dinner and then after dinner I was still hungry so I had a burn bar (tried for half but ended up eating the whole thing). So am absolutely terrible day for my nutrition. I am so sad about this because I though I could be stronger than this.... it is early days though and obviously I have a long way to go Hopefully I have learnt from this and Only upwards from here. Once I hit the gym everything changed and I absolutely tried my best, hit some higher weights and worked up a sweat so I have finished the day on a positive :) bring on bed and the end of this wretched day :(

TEMPTATION!!!!! Last night was hard, we had friends over for the state of origin and everyone ordered hot chips and burgers πŸ” I was really strong and pushed through, I stayed away from the table and tried to distract myself by looking after all the kids (there were 5 of them). I waited until I got super hungry and got my frozen bolognese out of the freezer and added a large handful of spinach, this was amazing! And it gave me a better feeling after eating it compared to feelings of guilt associated with naughty food. Then the chocolate came out...... oh man..... CHOCOLATE 🍫 3 blocks of chocolate passed around and I concentrated on my 1/2 Maxine's bikkies that I had waiting in the cupboard. Everyone left and when I was cleaning up I found the plastic bad with the chocolate in it (still some in there) it was in my hands and it was so hard wrapping that bad boy up and sticking it up in the cupboard but I DID IT!!!!!! Reached for the cupboard and got my Maxine's cookie. It hit the spot and I went to sleep happy and woke up today feeling great. So proud of myself. Training note- today is leg day, my little boy had such a terrible night last night with a bad cough, he would wake every time he coughed (which felt like every 10 minutes) and he would just work himself up because he is in so much pain :(. I would usually bring the kids with me to the gym but since he is so sick I have to wait until really late tonight (I'm talking 9.00) to get my leg session done. But I am committed and I am going to do this!

Week 2 day 3- rest day was lovely yesterday but I must say it always does feel good to hit the gym today and get my body moving, must be all of those lovely endorphins!! Today is my cardio/upper body day. I chose this day because both kids are in care (yay). I had good intentions to get ready this morning to go to a HIIT (30mins) class or XFIT (1hr) class for my cardio but unfortunately my son had a rough night last night as he is sick and I let him try and sleep it off this morning instead of waking him up. I decided to do an hour walk on the treadmill instead but I also could have made my own HIIT session at home. I much prefer to do those in classes though as the other people in the class push me further. If I see someone else doing more reps then me it helps push me to work harder, when I am all by myself It's harder to keep pushing. I the did an upper body session at the gym, it says to do a 10 minute warm up before every gym session so I ran to the gym (exactly 10 minutes) smashed out my session and walked home. Today has definitely been a win so far! Feeling great. Also had my first protein drink yesterday and LOVED it! Can't wait to see it work its magic on my muscles :) talk soon

Week 2 day 1- today has been a great day, I woke up ready to get shit done. Last night I planned my week and all the thinks I needed to do. I'm a bit of a control freak so I thrive on this stuff. I LOVE routine and I've definitely got myself in a really good one. Breakfast called for vanilla protein oats (still absolutely loving these, especially when it's cold, they just warm the soul) and instead of having just my raw apple I "spiced" things up with some cinnamon and cloves and stewed the apple for a few minutes and crushed the almonds over the top! Mmmmmm. Lunch was leftover bolognaise with rice and spinach and I have capsicum meatballs in the slow cooker ready for tonight. I also cooked up a big creamy carbonara for my family (husband and also my favorite) so that was really difficult, I must admit I did have a few taste tests but I knew that would be it so in a way it was a victory, I absolutely savoured the few mouthfuls I had, got my hit, moved on and ate my healthy lunch. So I am proud and not defeated in any way by my minuscule lack of self control. On the training side it was leg day today (I've backed up 2 leg day S in a row due to changing days around to suit me, this won't happen again now which is good) man I am sore! I had to take my two kids which will be the case every Monday and they do make it a lot harder but gosh they are well behaved so I can't complain too much. Worked extremely hard and during the workout it's such a battle with my head to keep going. But I have pushed through every session so far. πŸ’ͺ I've got a vision and I want to reach it, the only way to get there is hard work and dedication. Now I'm off to work for the afternoon, I teach piano so I am looking forward to sitting down for a few hours lol.

Day 3- feeling great! Started off my morning with some protein oats (my first taste of protein oats and absolutely loved them) I went in thinking I was going to have to force myself to eat them but that was definitely not the case, and so easy! 50g oats 1/2 water, microwave 1min 20 seconds and then mix in the protein. Ran out of time today and wasn't prepared (still on the back foot) but I will get on top of this and this weekend I will have time to prep for next week.... for now I will try and hit all the protein in my day and aim to couple that with greens and veggies. Surely I can't go wrong with that as long as I stick to my quantities :)..... lower body workout today and I loved it... I've never really done much with tempo work and I find it's pushed me harder! Failed in my squats so definitely went to my limits. I also tweaked my workout plan to suit my lifestyle and help me work around my kids :). Also ordered some Maxine burn drinks and also bikkies so VERY excited for them to turn up. In their place I have had Greek yoghurt and protein today :) talk soon.

I've just been familiarizing myself with this website and have just had a scroll through everyone's before pictures. I am so happy to be part of this. I am excited to see everyone else's progress and know that I am not alone in this journey, not by a long run!

Day1- 27 year old married mum of 2 (aged 3 and 5) I have a fitness account on Instagram that I have had for nearly one year now and that has motivated me to reach new goals and become a healthier version of myself. Before I started my fitness and health page I was a huge binge eater, I would restrict and then have huge blowouts. This was not a healthy lifestyle, and although I wasn't overweight I was most definitely not healthy. I have made positive changes over the past year and reached many goals and during this time I have changed from being quite a cardio based person (getting up to a 19km run) to now being a weight/gym and some cardio (fast walk or hockey/touch football game) on the side kind of person and I have to say I am extremely happy with how my body has changed. I love the toned and muscular look that I am starting to achieve from working out in a gym as opposed to a skinny and lanky runners body that I have had previously. Like many people I used to be extremely hung up on what my numbers say on the scales and only within the last few months have I found that they really are not the way to track progress. This is the heaviest I have been (if you exclude both of my pregnancies) and it's actually the happiest I have been with my body! This morning I didn't wake up thinking I would join this challenge, but it has always been in the back of my mind after watching my sister and her partner successfully go through this challenge themselves. I saw a picture this morning of Maxine's challenge and took it as a sign, what better time than now? So here I am, day 1- on the back foot as I have only started to look through all of the information provided. I am excited and nervous all at the same time but happy to smash some goals and see how far this can take me. I am strong and determined to give this a good crack. Wish me luck!
