Reason to start The Challenge

I’ve always been into health & fitness and had a love for the gym and training. Sadly the past 6 years I’ve been battling a long fertility journey due to my severe endometriosis, which included 8 rounds of IVF, which included 2 pregnancy losses (one ectopic in 2017 with emergency surgery and another miscarriage in 2018) after further surgeries and more attempts I was lucky enough to fall pregnant on my 8th IVF and welcomed my little Girl in November 2019. After years of hormones being pumped through my body and IVF after IVF, then falling off the wagon and emotionally eating during pregnancy and for the past 6 months post pregnancy and struggling to train after injuries relating to childbirth, I felt I needed to join the challenge to be accountable and follow along with the Maxines community. I competed in Maxines challenge in 2013 (and made top 50) and found it was the most supportive and structured challenge I’ve ever done and I decided after having my baby I needed that kind of support and accountability. I’m so excited to watch and share my transformation over the next 12 weeks and get back to my pre-IVF Health come August not just for the physical aspect but for my mental health also and to be the best Mum I can be for my little girl.

What did you like most about The Challenge?

I LOVE how easy it is to follow the food guidelines and using the drop down function to substitute food out. I also absolutely love the community spirit in the Facebook group, everyone is so motivating and encouraging and it’s such a safe place for those who are feeling a little vulnerable (like me)

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

For me it was overcoming postpartum injuries. My training was extremely restrictive due to recovering from a prolapse due to child birth and De Quervain tendinitis (Mum wrist) which I had a cortisone injection and was unable to lift anything for 30 days. It didn’t last and the pain came back, so I have been working around that in my training sessions.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

It has completely changed my life, I started the challenge 6 months after giving birth to my daughter which was a traumatic instrumental Birth that caused Many issues that I’ve had to overcome. I hadn’t lost any weight since giving birth and was struggling mentally. Doing the challenge has given me back my confidence and drive and motivation to get back to my old self (prior to 5 years of IVF and having a baby) I’m happier and feel like I have more energy and am even back to my 5am training sessions 5 days a week with a 9 month old baby which I never thought I would have the energy to do.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

I have been telling everyone JUST DO IT... it’s a small investment for a life changing results - I already have several friends lined up to do the next challenge with me in Sept because it is so good.

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

This was my second challenge - my first was 7 years ago and I have got amazing results from both, I think that it is a wonderful, affordable way for people of all walks of life to change their lifestyle for the better. It’s incredible how following the Food plan Alone can get such amazing results as I was limited on my training this time round, and I had no idea I would still be able to achieve so much with restrictions on my wrist movement.

I totally thought I was out of the game / might as well give up the comp as I had been so busy moving my business and chasing my 8 month old baby that I thought I hadn’t made progress and past few weeks only lost 500g... felt flat and deflated as my eating had been fine but my training not even half what I had hoped I’d be doing.. but then I did my 8 week check in and realised I am making progress and it’s not all about the scales, I look leaner and I even bought a pair of jean and went for a 12 and ended up getting a 10 and they are loose - so stoked and feeling very much still in the running 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Omg so I have moved my business of 5 years to a new premises the past 3 weeks which almost killed me but I continued to stay on track and lose weight. My weight loss slowed this week but hoping to get back to the gym this weekend and shake things up 💪🏽

Day 1 - feeling pumped, got a long way to go but I managed to eat all meals and all snacks and didn’t skip anything. I loved my Maxines Cookie for dessert Smashed 10700 step, 2 litres of water and a 30 minute cycle Session 💪🏽
