Reason to start The Challenge

I'd like to get back into shape and learn how to eat properly without limiting food groups. I want to be able to show my kids how to eat healthy and be a great role model for them.
I also have my wedding coming up in less than 4 months and want to look incredible for my future husband.

What did you like most about The Challenge?

I personally liked having a program to follow, I like to know what to do when and how to do it. The food plan was easy to follow as was the workouts and when I was in doubt about how to do something in particular, the forum had the glossary of all the relevant info I needed. I also loved having the social media support and the support from coaches, ambassadors and trainers whenever it was needed. Now the challenge is over, I like my results – can easily say im in the best shape I have ever been.

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

The hardest thing in the challenge was watching my partner eat pizza in front of me while he prepped for a powerlifting comp. This was half way through the challenge (roughly) and it literally made me cry! So much for supporting him through his training and dedication- haha. Temptation was definitely the biggest hurdle for me, but I have learnt a lot about self control and indulging. I think I could now handle situations where it is too easy to over eat and use some more self control. Also, trying to organise my wedding at the same time as doing this challange ended up being a little emotional roller coaster ride. The support I had helped me through this side of things and I am forever grateful for those around me who were there in my hour of need. And lastly, fitting in a full gym session when on a 1 hour lunch break was tough at times but you soon learn to be more time efficient and if getting those last sets out meant enough, you managed to work it in to your work/family life. Balance is very important and having an understanding boss helped with being flexible. Forever thankful.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

I have learnt so much about how to eat and I now know I can enjoy carbs in my diet! This was hard to grasp as first but soon saw results that I would have only dreamed of and now know – everything in moderation is great!. I hope my dedication and commitment to the challenge that I have made to the best of my ability, I can show and inspire my children that even with some hurdles along the way, you can still achieve your goals. Anything is possible, when you put your mind to it.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

If I can do it, YOU can too!!
What a fantastic experience! I am so pleased to have completed this whole challenge and I would tell them that this has been an amazing journey and a journey that I have learned so much about myself. All the support and guidance is right there for you and if you follow the plan, you WILL achieve. 12 weeks might seem like a long time but now that it’s over, it has flown by. It’s amazing what can be achieved in this short time but the lifelong knowledge is invaluable.

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

I am so happy with the progress I have made towards the goals I have always wanted to achieve. I am grateful to my family and friends who have supported me throughout my journey. But I don’t plan to stop here, I feel inspired to continue with my health and fitness goals and one day – I hope to inspire others to take on the challenge that I just have. I will be forever thankful to the coaches for all the online support and advice they have given and not only them, but to the social media support has been incredible. I know I had my moments when I felt like sleeping in and would check my phone in the morning and there would be ‘likes’ and ‘followers’ of my journey and this was all inspiration to get up and move!! The great part was, I found, some of the other challengers were over east so by the time I would be getting out of bed, they would have completed and posted their progress shots from their morning sessions... There was so much encouragement, nil negativity there was always some sort of positive influence by so many others, Its awesome sharing these moments with like-minded people. I can now say I am in the best shape of my life and about to walk down the aisle in less than 3 weeks to the most amazing, supportive partner who always gave me reassurance in my time of need.
I wish everyone the best of luck and thank you again to all the coaches, trainers and ambassadors.

Love it and I wish everyone the best of luck!! reaching goals is always an awesome feeling and even though it's the final day of the challenge tomorrow, I'm sure many of us will still keep striving for something more. 5 days left... This week has had its ups and downs emotionally which in turn, can affect you physically if lacking the motivation. I know at the beggining of this week I was stressing out and worrying about silly things and what seemed to get me out of this way of thinking was seeing all the other contestants carry on and post on social media and it was the motivation I needed earlier this week to make the most of these final days. Also reading all the advice on the forum of all the FAQ's (which is whats running through my head too) made a lot of sense and has put my mind at ease. One of the dowsides of this challenge and weight loss.... My engagement ring is quite loose now ;-0 hehe im not complaining! 25 days till my big day!! eeeeeeeek

Oh my goodness only 1 week and 3 days to go!!! Mixed up my training a little and have decided to train first thing. Feeling really good doing this and wish I had started doing this sooner!Wants I don't have to rush any training on the lunch hour and can sometines get in a little more cardio or other weights that I've wanted to include. Like today for instance - I didn't realize I could do pull ups to the extend I did, in my half hour at the gym I managed 10 sets of push press with dumbbells with burpees then after each couple of sets I'd attempt a couple of pull ups - I mamaged 12 pull ups in total! Was really happy with my strength and that I managed to achieve this many! Yay me! So up before the sun and before my fiancé even got the boat out fishing this morning! Long day but well worth it! So excited to finish the challenge and see how life will progress bit most of all looking forward to a scotch whisky especially on our wedding day :)

26/10/15 Loved my dinner tonight, just feeling like im not eating enough. Still sticking to the limits of food, the only thing ive really cut back on each times would be oats and thats only by about 5grams... Neeeeed more food! Day 71 was a hard day, had strange cravings and it took me all my might not to eat a timtam or cheesecake at work, instead I did have a few rice crackers ;( oh well chin up and move on! Counting down the hour(s) till nighttime shake time! Hanging for it! 25/10/2015 Moved 'leg day' to Sunday as I struggle to train legs at my regular gym and decided to train at home. Had the little one home woth me this weekend - which isnt usually the case so had to hammer out the housework x 3 hours then train legs right after. Was certainly struggling and may have shed a tear (haha) while texting the fiance to encourage me - to which he did without hesitation. Made it through - phew!! Treated the little lady to a movie at the cinema and then later again on the couch. Being my only day off this weekend it went way too quick and certainly not enough hours in my day atm! Loved my strawberry/berry shake post workout. Nya is also loving the flavours as well - treated her to a choc-latte for breakky and strawberry/berry as a dessert. YAy!! Last but not least - decided to indulge in a new phone to be able to take as many photos as i wanted for my hens day coming up. 5 days later I had it at the gym with me as my program with reps/sets and what i achieve is all on this little gadget for me THEN I dropped a 10kg dumbbell on it!!! I almost cried. Brand new phone down the drain as the repair shops cant repair it yet as its so new and they dont have the parts and Apple will charge over $400 to replace it. Not what I need right now but on the brighter side... I still have my old phone and will have to count on my bridesmaid for thosse special shots on our big night.

22/10/15 Noooooooo I had just about finished this blog and I accidentally deleted it ALL :( Long story short this time.... Digging deep after dealing with emotional times at home with my partner away, organising our wedding and being pulled in every different direction from family, friends and work. I guess this is just life but at times, moments can be harder than others. Feeling mentlaly and physically drained, I left work and 'slept it off' before SMAAAASHING my legs session which I didnt think was possible. Pushing limits and boundaries really was the motto of the day. And WOW! Love getting the chance to catch up on the forum posts for some handy tips and tricks! Eg: making my oats and protein turn into a massive bowl of AMAzing porridge! Wish I could eat this every day with all the different flavours, but sticking to the plan. Love all the helpful hints. Only 2 weeks to go and Im definately feeling it and have struggled a little lately with chest and tri's day. Shoulder is on the mend and can now bench and shoulder press but pushups and dips seem to give me a little more grief. Trying to maintain intensity and motivation without injuring myself further. 24/10/15 12km bike ride started my day off nicely - although I wish i had noticed the weather report as I felt like i was riding in a constant windtunnel on my cycle from home... On the way back was somewhat easier but had to keep telling myself 'think of the fat/calorie burn, push harder, push harder, push harder' Made it home to reward myself with strawberry oats. ;-P Arms and abs were on the agenda today at the gym for the lunch hour and as the gym was being 'rearranged' AND i managed to drop a 10kg dumbell on my 5 day old phone I decided to bail and will concentrate on the abs at home tomorrow after my legs session, Looking forward to this workout, Count down is on for this last leg of this challenge and will be looking forward to a massage sometime soon... Foam roller will have to do for now,

20/10/15 Cant believe I missed loading my week 8 results online :-( was gutted!! Its been crazy busy trying to organise a wedding, hens nights and making as much time as possible for the kids and my fiance along with training! But we are doing our best and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Its all a bit hectic but with my H2B and kids being supportive of me and goals for this challange it has made it much easier than it could have been. We have enjoyed including the kids into the training program and also encouraging healthier eating options when we can. I thanked my daughter this morning for being understanding and not complaining when I have my times to train. (I do try and get my cardio done in the AM before everyone is up). She came home tonight and said I she was thankful I too was helping her reach her goals by helping her with her trianing times and helping her be healthier and making healthier choices and one day she hopes to play for the womans La Crosse team for Australia - awwwww Bless! made me smile :) Anyway Fitness test reults are as follows: Please Note, as Im recovering from an injury on my shoulder I decided not to do a push up with my burpee and just do push ups on their own. Burpee; 27 Push ups: 37 Crunches: 27 Alt lunges: 53 Plank; 2:01 Jump squat: 52

1/10/15 Double cardio session today and with an injured shoulder it was a blessing, I felt I was in need of a rest from weights! But pumped for training tomorrow. So started with a trip down to the beach and a lovely omelet for breaky with about 100g of fruit. Second walk was another power walk/job 4km in about 30 minutes in the lunch hour at work. Trying to fit in any exercise when ever I can! Yesterdays weights training was squats and managed to bring in my weight lifting belt in another notch to get the tightness I needed to get squats done. After squats and being school holidays I went to the beach with my daughter and to keep her moving for 30 mins! Didn't quite make the 4km I'd normally do but having her there was awesome especially with such beautiful weather! Ps: these updates are usually from my phone and I can barely read the writing so forgive any spelling mistakes for those who choose to read my blogs! X

Week 6!! A few pics from yesterday and today. Yesterday was a serious deadlift day along with lunges and I must say, Im still loving having DOMS throughout this challenge! Means im pushing myself each session trying to make it a little harder than the last. But, deadlifts are my ultimate exercise and absolutely love having them in the training schedule. Managed to even break the bar in the gym im a member of!! :-/ Tonight I made Kangaroo spaghetti mince and loved the change of meal and my daughter loved it too! A little bit of meal prepping and have a few in the freezer for down the track or when home alone. Next I found a fave item I must buy come the end of the challenge... A bikini but best of all, its TARTAN!! Lastly my family!! I love my picture frame and with all the wedding prep today I managed to print of a picture from our prewedding photos and fill my Wizard of Oz themed picture frame :) Cant wait to have the whole bunch home <3

26/9/15 Wow! I was so happy with this number but only because I have chased it for so long. I have been so close many times but never managed to get there. I know doing Maxines Challenge its not about the nuber on the scales entirely but being a long time goal, how can I not be happy! One goal accomplished and my next is to complete the whole Maxines challenge, even when faced with an injury that will prevent me from doing some exercises in the next couple of weeks. Im still motivated to keep up the hard work and hit other body part where I can and keep up the same intensity and try and increase the intensity of my cardio.

25/09/15 What a day, started out with a lovely walk to the beach and didnt even need a jacket on this fine morning! Couple of hill sprints and stair climbs and headed home. Posed for a couple of muscle shots :-P and off to work! Received some bad news that H2B was in a minor car crash, but still a car crash none the less and worred, scared and hopefuly he would come home. No such luck and he will stick it out a couple more days before heading home to me! Hes ok and was still contemplating training tonight! ;-0 Enjoyed some delish-fish for dinner and just read Janets post about protein-dessert and have just popped my night time shale in the freezer.... 20 mins and counting! Still love checking in on all the advice out there! AND happy to be on Maxines Honour Roll!!

Busy times ahead! Prepping for my wedding - one of the biggest parts of this 'prepping' is being on this challenge and getting fit and lean (most of all for myself but...) for my future husband. Late nights researching, buying and sorting all the little things. Another exciting night coming up will be my hens night with all my favourite girls and getting dressed to the 9's! Fingers crossed I can score the dress in the pic above and will be looking amzing in it too! Have ordered my 'red sparkle' lippy that will match my shoes... Just call me Dorothy! Those who know me well know that my red sparklies are my 'thing' haha ANyway, I received Maxines email today 'to keep on track' and that I will. Super happy being on this challenge and love the support and advice thats available at the touch of a button!

Oh yeah! Nearly half way through this challenge and its had its hard times but, most of all so far, the experience has been exciting, very much enjoyable when seeing reults and making pregoress! Some of the women on here doing this challenge with me are looking mighty incredible already and thats motivation in itself to know that is quite likely how Im progressing too... Its just harder to see it on yourself than you do others. Keep up the good work ladies and men!! The 8 week check-in is not far away :)

#myjourney Most days are good days but today was just crap! Car broke down which followed by nothing much else going right and then stacking it on my pushy! I think I will stick to cardio on the stationary bikes at the gym!! LOL I did this right out of the front of my house as I was pulling up :( Well,,, Tomorrow is a new day with no doubt more obstacles trying to train with these injuries but I'll pull through when I have some XT burn and some extra strong pain killers. Good night, I know I'll sleep well tonight!

Today it was my turn to support my H2B on his challenge - competing in the GPC Perth Cup! He is always supporting me on my journey with Maxine's and today it was a big day for him, his first sanctioned powerlifting comp. Great day, great lifters and can't wait to attempt a novice comp one day myself. Made it home and finished my cardio before the sun set and made it to the beach with my step-son. He came along for the ride :) Tomorrow is the second attempt at the fitness test with my daughter after school! Happy days!

Today was cardio day for me... Now I am a member at a gym near work, I have given up on my group fitness classes for cardio due to costs and time limitations after work. So the gym it is. I have been a big fan of weight lifting though, coming into this challenge I have been inspired most of all from my Powerlifted H2B. Cardio was the first thing I would miss If I felt I needed a rest day. I dont have much of an imagination creating new routines and dont enjoy getting on the bikes/ cross trainers and treadmills at the gym so I thought Id give Janet Kanes skipping challenge a go! Well... I loved the (less than) 20 minutes that It took to complete and now I have another short term goal for the next 2 weeks to improve on my time - Photo above of the time this challenge took! Very much enjoyed this challenge and look forward to seeing other people put up their times. 15/9/15 Wow! So my third attem at this challenge and I beat my last time only by 1 second!! 20/9/15 did well this time! Think I managed to time my pwo well with this session but with a shoulder injury I may have to make this cardio session my last for a couple of weeks and see how I get on!

Happy Father's Day to All the amazing dads out there today! Big happy Father's Day to my main man who helped me through the day by telling me how much I DIDNT miss out on toblerone baked cheesecake! I literally nearly cried when everyone in the house was eating the afore mentioned dessert and I had to pull out my phone and log in to my Maxines profile and remind myself to be strong - that I was! I came home had my half cookie and night shake. Bring on the 4th week of this challenge and the trial of some new recipes. Welcome to the new week and a new day! Looking forward to my day off work tomorrow and I can pick up my daughter and take her for some sprint training for her sports carnival on Friday.

I think they call this a 'deconstructed' burger! This was tonights dinner after a Tabata session today... Started with the rowing machine Skipping 16kg Kettlebell swings 16kg Ketllebell 'figure 8' lunges 3kg bent over reverse flys alternating wih shoulder press and Finished with another bout of skipping. Even though the shoulder press was only 3kg dumbells, after the reverse flys and swings, they were shot! Loved the session and burned over 370 cals in 35 minutes! Bring on weights session tomorrow, right after I enjoy my breaky oats and brown rice for lumch! :)

Breaky! Egg white omelet but wanted to change it up a little and I dont often stray away from routine... But, instead of putting a little tomato in my omelet, I decided to fry up my slice of bread with my tomato! mmm Have enjoyed my rest day today and look forward to some tabata cardio tomorrow. Its also been inspiring seeing progress photos already!! I know I can see changes and look forward to the 4 week mark to upload and update. Part of my routine (although I know its not necessary) Is logging my food and exercise diary in My Fitness Pal... Now my heart rate monitor has decided to not work ;'-( I love knowing about how many cals im burning. Now that ive logged that... Its about that time for my night hot choc!

Mixing it up with berries in the shake last night. Forfeiting the after dinner berries to have in my 'post workout' shake. Officially its only been (almost) 2 weeks since the challenge began, I love how I feel and the progress im making. Love not having a bloated belly in the morning and feeling lean.

Has to be my favourite breaky - protein and oats and a cup of green tea! These oats are the best, especially when made with vanilla, I feel like it's a treat And was dying to eat these after my morning walk. :) 16/9/15 here's me thinking vanilla was my fave oats.... No longer is this the case! Strawberry is just heaven! Don't forget the green tea to start my day too!

With eating less and training pretty hard I didn't think I'd even get my 100kg deadlift today... Smashed it and got a 10kh PB and pulled 110kg! Yay pretty happy with that.
