Reason to start The Challenge

I love exercise. While I'm pretty content with my body I know I can improve. Exercise is a massive part of my life and I love it, but I also LOVE my food (chocolate hehe) I thought following a programme might help me become more accountable for what I put into my body...and if I can improve on this front then maybe I'll see the results I'm striving for.. good luck everyone :)

What did you like most about The Challenge?

The level of support we got throughout the challenge. I absolutely loved the forum and reading everybody's journal entries. I became so addicted. I loved how much I learned from reading questions and answers on the forum and I felt my diary entries kept me accountable for my actions throughout the challenge. The Maxine team responded so promptly to all challengers questions and concerns and were just so lovely. Checking the site every morning and night became a ritual.

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

I think adjusting to the nutrition was definitely the hardest part for me. Before the challenge I always loved going to the gym so I was already used to factoring time into my day to exercise but the change to my diet was a major shock to my system. Simple things like giving up my morning coffee and not eating popcorn and chocolate at the cinema were actually very tough to begin with. Weekends I would normally enjoy a tasty breakfast out with my partner, giving this up was difficult in the beginning but gradually got easier as I started to see results. The ambassadors kept saying trust the process and I always kept this in mind when I was tempted to give in and just have a piece of chocolate. In the beginning I also found saying no at social events hard. Not because I wanted to eat bad food but because others didn't understand what I was doing. But people gradually accept it when you stay strong and then it just becomes normal for them to see you eat your salad etc.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

OMG when I started this challenge, I really didn't realize the huge impact it would have on EVERY aspect of my life. I honestly thought it might just help me lose a few kg and tone up. This challenge is about sooo much more than weight loss. It has honestly given me a new lease of life. I was bouncing out of bed in the mornings. Despite working harder than ever in the gym I had so much more energy, my skin became flawless and my mindset has become so much more positive. I was never able to do fasted cardio before the challenge, now I think I'm so lucky that I am able and well enough to get out of bed in the mornings to do it. I have honestly never felt physically or mentally as strong. I have become an all round healthier happier person because of it. This challenge has changed my relationship with food, I now want to eat good food that fuels my body. Healthy eating wasn't just for the 12 weeks, it is now a way of life for me.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

DO IT!! But I would say it is not called a challenge for nothing. It is tough, there are days you will be very tired (for me the last phase was very exhausting) There will be days where your emotions go crazy!! I would advise anyone that was thinking of doing it to enter it whole heartedly and commit 100%. Listen to the ambassadors, use the forum, do use the supplements and be willing to make sacrifices such as no alcohol etc. Otherwise there is no point in my opinion. And the small sacrifices you make are sooo worth it when you get to see your final result.

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

Nothing really except a huge thank you for all the support and guidance. I am so happy with my final result and know that I gave this challenge my all. I was lucky, I have a very supportive partner who was with me every step of the way. I lost almost 8kg but gained so much in terms of knowledge about training, food and supplements and what my body needs to look and feel its best. This is not the end, I have got a taste of what it feels like to succeed and I fully intend on setting more goals and conquering them - this is only the beginning!!

Final diary entry!! Made it to the end and so proud of what I have achieved. I still look at the photos and cant believe its me. I have always wanted to see muscle definition and never did despite always training and keeping fit. Maxines challenge has taught me how to train well and eat properly. Before the challenge I trained and thought I made ok choices when it came to food but I was wrong - I love all I have learned. Thanks so much to all the ambassadors and coaches, amazing job!! Such support and great advice given in a very prompt manner. Best money I ever spent - well done fellow challengers, we did it - wahoo!!! Feeling so happy :)

Last leg session of the challenge done. Treated myself to a massage today. Feeling absolutely wonderful and so so so proud of myself. The last week I have felt sooo so tired and negative thoughts were creeping in... after a good 8 hours sleep and wearing a crop top to the gym for the first time EVER I know this journey has been worthwhile. My mindset has completely changed, my habits have completely changed, my appearance has changed. My outlook on life has changed. All for the better. Im not confident I will see much difference in my week 8 and week 12 photos but I dont mind - I know I have given this challenge my all. It has been unreal and the support from other challengers and the amazing ambassadors has been top class. Sooo glad I started it...and more importantly that I finished it 💪

Oh I am tired!! I did my cardio this morning and have to go back to gym later to do arms and chest workout. I think it will be my last heavy weight workout as I take my picture this Sunday (excited) This challenge has been simply amazing!! I saw 60.1 on scales today and couldnt believe it. Thats only a very small part of the change in me. I am physically and mentally stronger than I ever have been. I feel fantastic and so proud. I am not going to lie I have found the last week really difficult and feel my body cant keep up this intensity much longer!! I am looking forward to a lovely breakfast with my partner after my photos on Sunday, a lovely milky coffee which I will really appreciate. I am excited about a lil break from the suppliments next week but mostly excited about how much I have learned and applying it to my everyday life from now on - I feel like this is not the end, its really only the beginning and I am so greatful to the coaches and ambassadors involved. Simply amazing! 💖

As prepared as I was this weekend still managed to indulge in a few foods that I shouldnt have 😢 compared to before i started this challenge my choices were sooo much better but considering we are only 2 weeks away from the end and i was doing so well im disappointed i gave into some temptation when out of my normal routine... onwards and upwards. 2 weeks of perfect diet and training coming up.. must move on!

Ive been so strict with food this week but gave in to eating a full bar instead of the half i was suppose to have tonight. I did do two weights sessions today though so dont feel too guilty. my body felt like it needed a little extra. i was very exhausted this morning. I only did two weights sessions today as i am away for the weekend and wanted to prioritize them. i can do cardio easily in our hotel.. so il be setting off tomorrow with all weights sessions for the week complete and doing my conditioning in the morning before i go. Will run for cardio sat morning. Ive got this👍

My waist and tummy have really changed since week 5 ☺ my goal for the remaining four weeks is to really focus when I am doing my leg workouts. I would love a bit more definition in them. Love this programme, its the best thing ive ever done. I have a party tonight which will involve me having a few drinks but I am going to enjoy them and get back on track tomorrow. I will not let my hangover be an excuse to pig out all day tomorrow. Bring on Monday morning and the remaining four weeks of this transformation - have never felt so motivated 💪

God,I looked through my journey entries to date and realized im so quick to document any tiny slip ups!! I need to remember all the MASSIVE improvements Ive made to my diet and training and all the days (95% of the time I didnt slip up and did made the correct choices at home or in a social setting) Im so proud!! Hard on myself when I give in once in awhile and by writing it down I guess it makes me more accountable. I am so ready to smash these 4 weeks!! Bring it on! Night all x

Cravings soooo bad today. I gave into some dark chocolate last night and tonight :( only 4 squares both nights.. could have been alot worse but I hate cheating. Just felt i needed it and took the edge off. Body quite sore from training and bad sleep prob contributed to cravings. Wont give in this week. Week 8 - training already 100%, ensure I give nutrient my all with NO cheats

A few sneaky treats today. Was a lonnng day doing very little. Hungry all evening and gave into yoghurt and train mix. Didnt really need it. Goal week 7. Must stick to plan 100% - im hoping and thinking it will be easier when in the routine of work again!! Plan.. start strong tomorrow morning with legs workout and focus fully all of week 7 💪 I CAN and WANT to succeed

Aaaaah, today was a struggle. All m friends were out drinking for the game. I went to watch it too but ordered a chicken salad and drank sparkling water. Because it is normally a night I would go out and booze until the early hours of the morning I am not feeling one bit guilty that I had trail mix and a yoghurt after my dinner today - cheats could have been soooo much worse if I gave into cravings today. In bed now just after having my protein shake. Missing one night out not a big deal when working so hard during this challenge. Happy with today's decisions. Focus for week 7 is to follow diet 100%. Will be much easier when in the routine of school again.

Week 5... few slip ups this weekend!! I had a friends birthday party yesterday.. resisted all the sweets buns etc. But ate beef burger and some paotato salad and small bit of nutella cake..didnt even want to eat the cake to be honest but was handed to me, felt pressured to do so..ugh. sometimes social settings really hard. For lunch today I had my salad prepared but ended up ordering a chicken and avacado sandwich.. was very full after and know I shouldnt be eating bread so it was a big cheat!! Started this morning off with the conditioning session.. first time doing it!! Was brilliant.. i worked up great sweat and stuck to the timing. Goals week 6.. make 100% correct food choices, 1 coffee a day no exceptions!! And now I am comfortable with 5 to 8 week programme, up weights and work harder at it than I did this week!!!

School holidays means ive 2 weeks off.. can go to gym when its quiet and work through new programme at my own pace. Feeling determined and happy with how strong im starting to feel. Check In - Week 4 Wahoo.. just did my check in. I am down 4kg since we started challenge! I never go by scales to measure progress, i knew by my clothes and energy levels I was making progress but its satisfying to see the scales change too!! I havnt seen 63kg in awhile!! Waist and face are where I see main difference. Really want my lower body to progress now!! Feeling happy. Going out for dinner tonight with my partner to celebrate end of school term.. will be a little cheat meal but this check in will ensure I go straight back to the plan tomorrow morning. Little wins this weekend...didn't follow eating plan exactly but still made better choices than I normally would. Friday night babysitting - resisted the big block of chocolate left out for me. Cinema today - protein bar and peppermint tea instead of popcorn. Sat morning - breakfast with friends - ate beforehand and just ordered a coffee (two sugars though, this i need to work on) Sunday breakfast - oats and protein in bed rather than going out with my partner for our usual Sunday morning eggs benedict. Sunday evening - often get our favourite Thai take away, opted for homemade turkey burgers and green beans instead. I find weekends very tough when it comes to food but felt like I had lots of little feats - though not perfect. Few more coffees than I should have had and few extra snacks here and there. Goal this week - reduce coffees to 1 a day and avoid full yogurt and trail mix after my dinner (cravings for something sweet after dinner kill me) Feeling happy and determined!!
