Reason to start The Challenge

I have been training in the gym consistently (mainly group fitness classes) for a few years now. However, I've plateaued and want to get more into weight training again.
I actually completed a fitness qualification back in 2012/2013 and was at my fittest. But life got in the way and once I completed the qualification, I couldn't get a job in the industry and that made me feel horrible and like going to the gym was a chore. After a year of feeling sorry for myself, I got back into the gym, got myself a "gym squad" with a great group of girls and haven't looked back.
I'm still not personal training, but I'm hoping this is my year for success in all aspects of life :)

I did the challenge back in 2013, but didn't stick with it the whole way and kicked myself at the end, seeing everyone else's results.
I've never been happy with the way I look and suffer majorly with anxiety, so it's time to kick the self doubt to the curb.
The one thing I want most out of this challenge, (apart from a killer bod ;)) is the self confidence that I've longed for my entire life and I want to be able to believe in myself, that I can do anything.
So here's to the next 12 weeks. I will come out on the other side! #positivityiskey #chasinggains #top50wouldbeabonus

What did you like most about The Challenge?

Where do I start? Everything is there in front of you, making it super simple. Having structure in my life with nutrition was awesome. I used to try and eat healthy but now realise I was doing more damage to my body than good.
Sunday meal preps are now a forever thing.
Going to the gym having a plan and not aimlessly wandering around trying to decide which exercise to do was also great!
I got a lot out of the forums. Whenever I felt I had a question, I just searched and 9 times out of 10 it had already been answered. Reading other people’s journals when I wrote mine and reading the forum every morning, gave me a kick if I felt I needed a little extra motivation to get thru the day.
I have learnt so much and am already bringing part of Maxine’s with me to continue on my journey for life.

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

The hardest thing about my challenge was the constant temptations from food around me, EVERYWHERE. I still live at home so at the start of the challenge, eating my “no carb” dinners while my family had pasta or potato dishes and dessert absolutely sucked!
Also working in an office job, I was constantly snacking throughout the day on whatever was in the fridge… leftover donuts/cakes/lunches/biscuits/red-bulls just to name a few. So breaking this habit and having set times to eat wasn’t easy. I found myself constantly watching the clock waiting for my next meal! Eating was the highlight of my day…. As long as I had food in my mouth, I was happy hahaha. The hangry-ness that I suffered was real (apologies to the family and boyfie 😝), but as the challenge progressed, I found myself not even craving what they were eating and actually enjoyed every part of the nutrition plan.

Also, how hard was Easter?!?! With all that chocolate temptation?! Just cruel, but was good fun giving the willpower a hammering hehehe.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

I’ve suffered with pretty bad anxiety and depression since high school and 2 years ago was put on medication for it when it was at it’s peak.
I couldn’t even go to the shops by myself and something as simple as ordering food, meeting new people or answering the phone literally made me feel sick and breakdowns happened on the daily.
I came into Maxine's challenge wanting to get rid of or at least help control my anxiety and gain some self confidence for the FIRST TIME in my life.
I’m definitely not 100%, but this challenge has changed my life. In 12 short weeks I’ve come off my anxiety medication, got a little bit of self confidence and a body that I never thought I’d have.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

DO IT! I cannot recommend it enough. Everything is laid out for you, all you have to do is follow and stick to it. It will be difficult, but nothing worth having comes easy! 😊

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

I can’t remember the last time I was proud of myself, if ever, but today is one of those days.
I honestly can’t put the last 12 weeks into words. I’m proud that I stuck to the challenge and finished it with NO REGRETS. It definitely wasn’t easy but I have come out on the other side, sticking it to the doubters and I couldn’t be happier. 😊
I decided if I was able to complete this challenge successfully, I would compete in a bikini competition in September this year with ICN. So that’s the next goal and I’m super excited. I have just under a month before I start a 16 week prep and thanks to Maxine's, have the tools to stay on track by myself until then.

Thanks again to the Maxine & Max’s crew for the epic ride over the last 12 weeks, I’ve loved every second (even the hangry-ness 😉) and will miss my morning journal and forum reads.

Also thanks to my little crew of family, few friends, Maxine's girls and of course my lovely Zac for supporting and believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. Couldn't have done it without you all...

Until next time fitfam, I'll be back! xo

Day 83! OMG!! Almost the last day!! Exciiiiiiting! Today was pretty chilled, went and got my dexa scan done... didn't get one at the start though so had nothing really to compare it to... have a starting point to continue on though. Weight was at 51.6... makes 8kgs exactly lost! Gotta be happy with that 😊 Then went and got fresh hair and a tan for photos tomorrow! So nervous for final photos... just hope I've done enough and that they turn out ok! 🤞🏼 Until tomorrow! X

Day 82 - Thank goodness it's so close to the end. I've hit a wall mentally and physically. I didn't gym last night, as I just couldn't manage and didn't have the energy. I instead went and spent the night at my partners place, on the couch. After dinner (Tuna and salad), I was still hungry so had a bowl or two of spinach and an apple. I'm assuming spinach is one of the unlimited veggies we can eat, but woke up a kg heavier than yesterday >.< feeling really fat and frumpy today too which isn't good being so close to the end. :( I went to the gym this morning with the intention of doing cardio, but still am not feeling the best so did a 10 minute walk and 5 rounds of 20x crunches and 40x bicycle crunches. Really lousy effort but nevermind. I'll go back first thing tomorrow morning and do a bit of light weights all over and cardio before my dexa scan and spray tan tomorrow arvo. Really nervous to see how my photos will turn out... Hopefully I'm feeling a little leaner by Sunday morning.

    51.8kg

Took this pic this morning after gym... Still not as lean as I was hoping, but gotta be happy with how far I have come! Also stood on the scales and saw this weight.... Cant ever remember being that small in my adult life, so that's good too! Hopefully I'll tick over the 8kg loss mark by Sunday! :)

Day 81 - Pump and Zumba class completed last night. Felt awesome during both classes and felt a little stronger in pump than normal. Win! However, once I had finished and got home, it was about 8pm and I was soooo HANGRY. Spat the dummy with my car coz my boot wouldn't let me in to get my bags hahaha.... But once I had my food, I was better :P This morning was back and shoulders day, but I got my PT to take me thru a few different back and shoulder workouts and really felt the burn! Did a good variety :) Will head back tonight for some abs and possibly grit cardio. We'll see... Have booked my spray tan for Saturday afternoon and my photos are happening first thing on Sunday... Keen! #3daystogo!

Day 80 - Cardio day! Went and did 5 laps of Jacobs Ladder and 5 times up and down the hill alongside it. After two laps, I started to feel short on energy, but pushed thru and got it done. Would much rather have stayed in bed a little longer but there's only a few days left so I have to push on if I want good after pics! I'm looking forward to Sunday... I'm allowing myself one day to eat what I like, then it's back on healthy eating... Not as strict at first, but I'm hoping to do a bikini comp in September so towards the end of May, will be on a fresh plan with a comp prep coach.... New goals, new motivation :)

Day 79 - Haven't been updating as regularly as I should... Being on holidays from work throws a bit of a spanner in but never mind. I've been continuing on well over the last week or so. Attended a wedding last Friday and the dinner matched in with my plan perfectly. Except for dessert of course. I decided to treat myself though, as I've been so good throughout the whole challenge. It was peanut butter brownie and toffee icecream. MY GOD it was good, but of course, once it was finished, the guilt was way too strong :( i just thought, I'm at a wedding, not drinking, trying to explain to people that I'm on a fitness journey, that I'm not pregnant (lol), so it was ok to indulge a little. Then on Saturday, after a quick prep of meals for this week (tuna and salad for everyday) I went down south to the boyfies parents farm for a little get away :) stayed on plan over the weekend as best I could too... took all my protein and oats, and had healthy lunches and dinners. Did plenty of exercise too. Walked up Castle Rock, which is 2.7kms up a Rocky Mountain to get to the view at the top (see attached pic). Didn't feel as guilty skipping leg day after that lol. On the way home now and will smash a chest and arms sess at the gym later this arvo, with a bit of cardio mixed in too. 5 days to go! 💪🏼

Day 73? or 74? - is that right? I haven't made a journal entry in a week or so. I've been busy staying on plan and training hard! Although I did miss Sunday's session and monday I attempted to do legs but my body said no as I wasn't feeling well :( so did 30 minutes on the stair master instead. It was my birthday today but no cake or naughtiness until after the challenge finishes. My day started off great! Went to Jacobs ladder and did 10 laps then shouted myself breaky at the health freak cafe 🙊 Egg white omelette! Yum! I then came home, washed my car and went thru all my clothes and got rid of heaps!! Only downside to losing weight is having to get new clothes.... or is that a plus side? IDK. Either way I'm going on a shopping spree! I went back to the gym tonight but left early as I had something important to sort out with a friend and couldn't concentrate on my workout 😥 Now I'm sitting on my bed feeling guilty but I've already done my workout for today and at least I went and got a bit of extra done 💪🏼 Didn't really want to be upset on my birthday but these things happen. Onwards and upwards for the final 10 days of the challenge!! P.s - I have Easter eggs waiting for me at the finish line... But do I eat them when I'm finished as a reward? Or not? 🙊 Throughout this challenge I've learnt not to use food as a reward so we'll see 😏

Day 67 - Wow. This part of the challenge really is a mental struggle. Feeling pretty horrible mentally today after receiving some negative comments... I felt really good yesterday and today feels like it all just came crumbling down. Throughout this challenge, I'm feeling like I was really getting somewhere with my anxiety/depression and today is the lowest I've felt in a long time :( Ohwell... I'm not going to let it break me. I will continue training hard and show those who doubt me that I can do it... I weighed in again today and was another kg and a bit lighter so at least my day started off good :) On a week and a half leave from work after today so looking forward to really taking charge of my training. No chocolate for me over the weekend, don't even feel like I want it so that's a plus!

Day 66 - Abs and grit cardio last night. Cardio was a struggle but me and my friend got thru it, supporting and pushing each other... That's what you want in a gym buddy! :D Went to Jacobs Ladder this morning for my cardio. 10 laps and 5 hill climbs completed. Used the time to listen to a few of Craig Harper's podcasts, as I haven't listened to them yet... Completely changed my mindset... :) Decided to get my sister to take a photo of my back last night, as my PT said to me earlier in the week that he can see some definition coming thru... Was surprised! Week 1, Week 5 and Week 10 :) On another note, just had my morning burn bar snack, but put it in the microwave for 20secs and ermageeeeerd! So delicious!

Day 65 - On the home stretch now! :) Feeling hungrier everyday but that must mean my metabolism is working overtime.... Which is never a bad thing :) I went to the gym last night to finish off my hack squats and calf raises and did a sneaky ATB class.... Lots of lunges and squats just to kill the legs a bit more. Had my chest and arms session this morning, went up in all weights and felt really good. Then had my PT session and asked him to take me thru the conditioning workout as I didn't do it on Sunday... OMG. Only had time to do 3 rounds of everything, but it was killer! Leaving no stone unturned in this last few weeks, to come out the other side with no regrets!! :) #doubleworkoutsFTW

Day 64 - Received a bit of an unexpected visitor on Saturday morning.... Which explains why I was so irritated and hungry on Friday lol. I had two extra apples and a few almonds on Friday night and felt guilty af. Could definitely have been worse! Saturday morning I did my chest and arms session, then spent a girly morning with Mum. The rest of the day was spent cleaning, organising and comparing photos to what I used to look like..... I've attached a photo. The left is me at the start of a 12 week challenge two years ago at 60.6kgs and the right was me over the weekend at 53kgs... I'm still not where i want to be, but I'm closer than I was yesterday :) Sunday I meal prepped and was hungry the entire day, not matter how much I ate (thanks TOTM). I ate some rock melon and lots of mushrooms, on top of my food plan and had an extra burn bar last night when the rest of my fam was eating hot cross buns. This morning! I decided to go to a gym closer to work, after sorting out my card over the weekend to make sure it worked there. Took a new pre-workout, sat in traffic for an hour, skin tingling like a bitch, get to the gym, card still doesn't work (was un-staffed that early), called my regular gym to let them know, was told I'd have to wait till the end of the day, so I got to work an hour and a half early >.< Will be taking an hour and a half for lunch so will go and get my session done then! Downside is, now my skin is crawling at work.... F**k hahaha

Today I'm struggling.... I haven't got the energy to be at work, I just had lunch 45 minutes ago and I'm starving. I had a little less sleep last night than I've been having lately so maybe that's why? And all my muscles ache.... Urgh. I just want some comfort food.... 1.5 hours till my frozen protein shake and 3.5 hours till home time. Must. Remain. Strong :(

Day 61 - Starting to get nervous for the end of the challenge! Just hoping I get good results and reach my goals in time! I'm sticking to the nutrition (except not having any after dinner snacks) and training lots so fingers crossed! #comeonabs! I went and did abs and grit cardio as usual last night and felt grit a bit more than usual... I was sore all over so it was a little tougher lol I headed to a different gym this morning, closer to work for legs B! Feel like I did okay, just can't get the hang of the front squats so the heaviest I was squatting was 25kg :( going to ask my PT in my next session if I'm doing it right and go from there. Probably didn't go as heavy as I could have in all exercises but wanted to learn the technique and figure out where everything was. Will up the weight next week :)

Day 60 - Pump class last night and even though I was sore all over, managed to go up in all my weights :) Back early this morning for the new back and shoulders and a PT session.... My god! Those BB Clean and presses are killer! But while I was doing them, a lady came up to me and said she can't believe the change in my body the last few months and said I'm doing a great job! Pushed me to smash the last of my set. Love hearing that.... Sets me up for a great day and makes me feel like it's all worth it! I was talking to her for a bit and she asked what I was doing. Turns out she did the challenge a few years ago, but said she struggled big time with the food and would often find herself binging. She did agree that this last phase is where you see the change though, so determined to stay strong! My PT took my thru some extra back and shoulder workouts just to finish off my session.... DB Arnold presses, cable face pulls, rear delt flys, cable crossovers. Feeling awesome (but hungry hahaha).

Day 59 - Did grit cardio last night, still didn't get into the red zone on my HR monitor, but was in the yellow for the majority :D Did Jacobs Ladder this morning before work for cardio day.... 10 laps, going up every 2nd step to get the extra burn in my quads and after every 2nd lap I did a hill run :) burnt 964 cals! Feeling good now, but starving and I've just had food hahaha... Ahh well. They say it's a good thing!

Day 58 - Chest and Arms workout today.... Felt the burn that's for sure! Planning on going up in weights on the next session on Saturday, just wanted to nail technique first. Still trying to get the hang of the tempo too! I ended up doing shockwave and ATB last night... Just to add a bit of extra burn to the legs. Felt good afterwards :) I've decided to try another gym that is close to work, that I can also get in to with my current membership and go before work, to test the waters and see how I go. I love training solo and I really NEED to push myself in these last few weeks to reach my goals.... Photo below is post workout on Saturday... Getting the gains slowly! #grwbabiesgrow

    11:40 AM

Day 57 - My Saturday morning started early, around 6am to complete the last shoulders and arms session for the second phase. I then had to drive to Bunbury, as my aunty helps bikini girls with their posing for comps and I want to get into that, so thought it'd be good to go and watch :) I then had to drop the bf off at a bux do and went to catch up with some people I hadn't seen for a while. Nutrition slip up was an extra burn bar whilst others were having dessert. I had comments from 3 different people today about how my face is changing, I'm getting too "slim" and they hope I'm eating and not making myself sick..... This is always people's theories when you want to eat CLEAN and not junk... Grrr I got home around 11:30 and had to wait around for the bf to finish up at his bux do. Ended up going to pick him up at 4am, with no sleep (GF of the year?!), took him home and looked after him as he was incapable of looking after himself hahaha. I ended up getting a few hours sleep, before getting up to meal prep. Lack of enthusiasm and energy today really made it feel like an effort, but I got it done! Didn't have my lunch Sunday, but had grapes (eeep) and halo top ice-cream. I just felt like I needed it while the BF had KFC for lunch, then pastacup for dinner. FML lol. I also didn't get my conditioning workout done, because looking after the bf took priority and with the little sleep I'd had, think I needed a rest day. I will try and make time to do it this week, but with the new training program, I think I'll struggle to find time :( Bed early last night and up this morning for Legs A of the new plan... Felt the burn that's for sure! But didn't go too heavy on all the exercises as I was trying to learn the right form first. Will go up next week :) If the only wrong thing I've eaten on this challenge is a bit of 280cal protein ice-cream and grapes, I'm doing okay! :)

Day 54 - 30 days to go! Wooooow! Only went and did an abs class at the gym last night... Didn't stay for grit coz I had done enough cardio that morning and was going to the bf's place. After the shit day I'd had at work yesterday, I wanted nothing more than to just chill with him and eat ice cream.... Which I did, but the ice cream was my nighttime protein blended in the nutri bullet with ice :) YUM! I then went back to the gym this morning to do the last leg session of this phase... SO excited to start the next program! A little bored of this one now tbh... Bring on week 9!

So a day FULL of phone calls and abuse and I'm ready for a drink :( Haven't had a work day like this in so long! It's only just started to slow down.... Day 53 - Did a pump class at the gym last night... Went up in all my weights and felt amazing.... Was looking at my shoulders doing the exercises and noticed they are growing which is awesome! :D Gonna try and get a pic over the weekend... Had another f45 session this morning, all strength based... f45 is good, but it's a lot easier than I thought it would be... Either that, or I'm just getting fitter lol. Then went to my normal gym and had a cardio session with my PT. 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off for 3 rounds... Lots and LOTS of kettle bell work... - Kettlebell deadlifts (24kg); - Kettlebell swings (16kg); - Leg raises; - Assault bike; - Kettlebell upright rows (14kg) - Kettlebell bicep curl and press (6kg); - Push-ups and jumping laterally over a box; - Squats holding a DB at my chest (20kg). Felt gooood at the end! :)

Day 52 - Gym last night to do gritcardio and abs... Was burpee night last night! Soooo many burpees.... I have a love hate relationship with them at the moment haha. Today I decided to try something different for my cardio and went to an f45 Athletica class... Mainly functional cardio. Was nice to change it up a bit! I then went to the gym and finished my chest and back exercises from yesterday and did 5 rounds of 20x crunches and 40x bicycle crunches. Took my week 8 progress photos today.... Not feeling much of a difference between weeks 4 and 8, but look forward to this next phase as they say that's where the magic happens! Will attach my progress pics :)

Day 51 - Went to the gym last night, but I wasn't feeling the best so just did an easy 5kms on the treadmill. I only ran about 3 lots of 500m and power walked the rest. Chest and back this morning, didn't have time to do the full workout, as I had PT... So I will do the super-sets that I missed tomorrow :) However, with my PT I did some extra back workouts (seated row, cable pull down, cable face pulls) and some shoulder presses on the machine... Always feel like I push myself more when my PT is helping me, so felt awesome... He also noticed that I'm getting some definition in my back which is always nice to hear. Back tonight to do grit cardio and abs... Yesterday, my PT sent me my very first gym check-in photo from 2011... I cannot believe I let myself out of the house looking the way I did. I was so crippled with anxiety being my first time in a gym and you can really tell from the photo :(

Day 50 - Only 34 days to go?! Where did that time go? So I had the two engagement parties on the weekend.... I didn't drink, even though I wanted to... But I did have 1 aranchini ball and 2 lean beef meatballs. There was so much more yummy food, but I felt bad enough with those 3 things that I ate... Oh well. On the way to the second party, I had a burn bar so I wouldn't be hungry when I got there. I thought wrong. As soon as I saw the food (subway platters, sushi, party pies etc) I was starving! But didn't touch a single thing... And that felt like a small win. Sunday I was up at 630am to get my conditioning workout done and out of the way. I then had to drive back up to where the first engagement was, to pick up the boyfie as he stayed there for the night. #girlfieoftheyear We then went and did meal prep for the week, then chilled for the rest of the arvo/night :) Today was legs again..... I'm starting to dread leg day. I think it's because I'm getting bored. Can't wait for the new program! I decided not to go up in any weights today, as I've had sore glutes for what seems like a week now... I didn't go low enough in my squats as everything is tight! I really need to start stretching/foam rolling more >.< But I got it done at the same weights as last week, so I'm happy. Will go up on Thursday for the last legs session of this phase :) The photo is of me and my spunk, all dressed up. Super rare for me to be out of gym clothes, so thought I'd share.

Day 48 - Grit strength was completed last night.... Went up to 12kgs on the bar, so 15kgs all up for the whole class and felt it at the end! Up early this morning to get my shoulders and arms sesh done. Again, up in all weights and smashed it out 💪🏼 I've got TWO engagement parties on tonight, so went shopping earlier for something to wear... I bought 3 different jumpsuits/dresses because I couldn't decide hahaha #girllife. BUT! One dress I bought was a size... wait for it.... fricken 6!!! Never did I ever think I'd be a size 6! Feeling on top of the world at the moment 💪🏼 Of course I had to stop in at Lorna Jane too for a new crop and shorts 😏 Staying on plan tonight at my parties... may miss dinner, but will have a spare protein shake to have in the car between parties 💪🏼 Loving this lifestyle and the results I'm getting, so how could I cheat on it now! 😍 Photo is off my size 6 dress 👏🏼 Don't ever wanna forget this feeling! Motivation plus!

Day 47 - Last night while at grit cardio and abs, a lady that I don't know came up to me and said "you've lost weight the last few weeks haven't you?" And of course I said yep and she said "you're looking really good!" This is just what i wanted to hear after the crappy start of the week that I had.... Felt so happy after that. It's amazing what you feel when a stranger compliments you and notices all your hard work :) Went for legs this morning. It was a difficult session as I've got pretty sore glutes at the moment with no rest days, but I smashed thru it. When I was finished, I decided to try and do an un-assisted tricep dip, as a few weeks ago, I was doing assisted, struggling, with about 10kgs off pushing body weight. I managed to do 3 reps!! Could've probably done a few more, but my form wasn't all that great... Definitely something to work on! Next stop is chin-ups! :D

Realised when I got to work that I'd forgotten my tuna for lunch >.< Old me would have gone "alright f**k it...." and bought something unhealthy/easy, but I went to the shops 20 minutes from work, just for a tin of tuna to go with my salad and rice :) #noexcuses

Day 46 - The start of this week was the worst I've had on this challenge so far. Stopped believing in myself and every doubt and anxious thought popped in to say hello. I stuck with the training and food 100%, though the mental exhaustion I was suffering was crazy! But I'm back in a positive mindset and ready to tackle the rest of this challenge with all that I have! I really think the mental part of this challenge is SO much harder than the physical. Preparing the food and exercising is all well and good, but if your mind isn't playing the game, it makes for a difficult time! I swapped around today and tomorrows training days, as I felt my legs need a little longer to recover this week. So I did cardio this morning with my PT and will do legs tomorrow morning. I managed to get thru the pump class last night but didn't do Zumba or any treadmill as I was pretty hangry when I'd finished haha. Back tonight for abs and grit cardio :)

Day 45 - Another day, another dollar... These are my thoughts at the moment. Really don't want to be here at work and not in a good head space. I feel like I'm working my ass off... Gyming twice a day during the working week and seeing little results. Yeah, ok the scales are going down, but I can't see a change in my pics :( Trust the process as they say! I might not be in a good headspace, but that doesn't mean I will cheat on my diet or training! 6 weeks to go and will remain strong.... Got to look good in those week 12 pics! #eeep I went to the gym this morning and did half of my conditioning workout that I missed on Sunday (couldn't do TB deadlifts and battle ropes as it was busy - will do tonight) and the 2 super sets of back and chest that I ran out of time for yesterday. Didn't feel too bad during my workout, definitely feeling better energy wise than yesterday though. Back to the gym tonight for a pump class and possibly Zumba... Haven't decided if I want to Zumba or just treadmill. Will decide tonight I guess :)

Day 44 - So I haven't had the best few days, hence why I haven't been writing but food has stayed on track. Saturday started with my shoulders and arms session, I then had an appointment in the city for competition shoes, as I'm looking at doing a bikini division comp in September. I then had a few hours at home, before going on a car cruise with the family and boyfriend. It's an annual thing that we do every year, so it was good to go and catch up with a few people I hadn't seen for a while. Sunday I was at my partners and didn't get out of bed until 9:30 because I had a crappy sleep. I didn't get my conditioning workout done. Felt really bad, but I have made time this week to get it done. Felt like I had no energy all day and everything was an effort. Did food shopping and prep then chilled on the couch and went home later that arvo. My partner decided on the way home from the shops that he'd get hungry jacks for lunch... I was starving at this point and when we got home was on the verge of tears! But had some rice and tuna and felt better :) Monday I was meant to make it to the gym first thing for legs, but I couldn't even get out of bed. My body is just wrecked at the moment... I'm hoping it'll all be worth it! I took the day off and went to the doctors. He pretty much told me to stop going to the gym and that it wasn't helping me at all because I didn't need to lose weight. Seriously?! I went and got legs done around lunch time, took a double scoop of betapump, but still struggled thru :(. Got really dizzy at one stage doing my deadlifts and almost passed out, but got it done. I really need to learn to listen to my body! I went for a 5km walk later that arvo as I didn't have the energy to go back to the gym for shockwave and atb. This morning I had my chest and back session, only got thru two super sets before I ran out of time for PT, so will go back and finish those tonight after grit. Broke down during my PT session, because I didn't feel like I could do anything and my energy levels just weren't there. My PT was super supportive though, gave me a bit of a pep talk and I finished the session, smashing thru the last half. I think it was just everything building up all at once, and my poor PT copped the brunt of it. Hopefully I can shake whatever this feeling is and get back to smashing my workouts! At least I have stayed on the plan... My food could have been much worse, the way that I'm feeling right now! :(

Day 40 - Almost half way through! Crazy! I didn't go to the gym last night for cx or grit because I had another appt to go to, but I went and did a quick cardio session this morning. Just a bit of the cross trainer for 20 minutes and a quick abs.... Didn't have much time this morning but going back to do grit strength tonight and will do my walk at lunch as always :) Got on the scales this morning and saw 54.7 as the number and was confused.... For some reason, in my head, I had changed it around to 57.4. Blame it on the half asleep-ness, but I'm happy :D 100gm and it will be 5kgs lost since starting the challenge :)

Stepped on the scales this morning, expecting to be up (thanks TOTM), but to my surprise I was exactly 55kgs! I actually stepped on and was 54.9 so got excited and grabbed my phone to take a pic and of course my phone bumped it up to 55... Hahaha. Ahwell, smallest I've been in years :) I took a tummy comparison picture yesterday to see how I'm tracking and can ALMOST see ABS for the FIRST TIME EVER!! Come on babies! I can't wait to meet you

Day 39 - Had the day off work yesterday for a hospital appointment that I had to take care of... That didn't stop me from hitting up Jacobs Ladder first thing though, for an easy 10 laps for my cardio ;) I caught up with a friend at the shops in the arvo and whilst she was having lovely smelling hot chips and gravy (my FAV) and an iced coffee, I had a peppermint tea.... Felt really proud of myself for not succumbing to temptation, even though I didn't really want to eat them. Today I did my legs session, but had my surprise monthly visitor arrive so I didn't have the energy to go up in my weights... Stayed at the same weights that I was at on Monday. I usually go up every week so this didn't phase me. I was feeling really good this morning after the gym, got to work and was on a high! Then read/saw something I didn't really want to see on facebook and all my insecurities came back. Just feeling like second best to some of the important people in my life at the moment. "Am I doing enough?" "Am I good enough?" "Will I ever be good enough?" #gah! #anxietyissues

Day 37 - Gym last night for a bit of tabata on the treadmill and an ATB class. Extra burn in my legs is just what the doctor ordered ;) Back this morning for my chest and back session... Smashed it and felt awesome at the end, going up in all my weights... Happy days! Grit and CX tonight... Might even stay for a rollerflex class and give these legs a bit of a birthday. Lol. I've been feeling really bloated the last few days, I think it's just about the time my little monthly visitor comes... Damn uninvited guests! But feeling positive today, which is always nice :)

Day 36 - My anniversary weekend was great. I stayed on plan, apart from half a glass of moscato to celebrate with my man and he had potato wedges so I had a few of them... Dinner was meant to be fish stir fry, but I ordered a field mushroom stack, with a bit of chicken, it had kale and polenta also. I wasn't a fan of the polenta so didn't eat much :) Sunday we came home and I had to meet a friend for an ICN (I compete natural) seminar, as this is something I'm looking at doing later in the year. I then did my food prep and went to the gym for my conditioning session. Sunday night, I felt really emotional. Comments that I had made to a friend were taken in the complete wrong context and I found out from my sister that I had upset my friend by what I said. I struggle bad with anxiety so for me to know I'd upset someone, messed me up big time. I never say how I'm feeling, but the one time I do, I upset people. So now it's back to saying nothing and bottling it up. This morning was leg day again. The humidity in the gym made it bloody hard but I got it done.

Day 34 - Did my new shoulders and arms workout this morning, followed by a step class. Stayed on the plan with food, and planning to for the rest of the day. I was going to loosen the reigns a bit today as it's my first anniversary with my partner, but think I'll stay on plan. We are staying in the swan valley in WA (wine region). Started with supa golf, now sitting at a winery with my man about to have a veggie juice... Life's good 👍🏼

Day 33 - Friday again.... The weeks are just flying by! It was cardio day for me so I was up at 4:30am to go to Jacobs Ladder in Perth City for my cardio. It's about 30kms from my house, so had to leave at 5am to contend with traffic! Although it wasn't too bad and I was hardly stuck in it at all :) Anyways, I had my betapump on the way there and had the intention of doing 6 laps and after every 2 doing a hill climb. I ended up having the time to do 8 laps and 4 hill climbs in an hour and 15mins and felt awesome. Most laps I've ever done there.... Next stop is 10! Came straight to work afterwards and had a shower and got changed and was still an hour early.... Lucky because my computer took an hour and 30 minutes to update >.< #whatluck Completed grit cardio and abs last night after legs already yesterday, so my legs are a bit stiff at the moment.... No pain no gain though. Love the pain and my commitment to the program at the moment! Doing extra never hurt anyone... Right? With that being said, grit strength will be done tonight. LOL #sendhelp #addictedtoexercise

Going for a run in my lunch break seemed like a good idea in theory... Hahaha. I'm slowly learning to like cardio, but weights will always be my number one :) Managed to get approx 4.5kms in 30 minutes exactly. Not bad, but aiming for 5kms in under 30. Just got to get it out of my head that I can't do it... The body always wants to push further than the mind. Positivity is key!

Day 32 - LEGS! I completed the squats and trap bar dead lifts (although i had to use a barbell, as there was nothing else available) with my PT and did the rest of the session solo. I usually use a box to put under me during squats so I know when I'm parallel, but am working towards not using it and building my confidence to trust my legs to push back up. Today I did 4 sets, without the box, highest weight being 37.5.... With the box I can do 45, so not a huge difference, but something to work on! Got to 50kgs in my dead-lift today, which may not seem like much to some, but it's almost my body weight so I'm pretty wrapped :D Completed a pump class last night, then decided to stay for Zumba. I used to do it every week, but my favourite trainer left a few months back and it's just not the same... But I enjoyed it last night, and will probably make it a weekly thing again :) p.s. OMG my hammies are crying!! But I LOVE it hahaha

Day 31 - CardiNO day.... ;) Got to the gym nice and early and did this HIIT pyramid that someone shared on the Facebook group. Pretty proud that I completed it in 13 minutes... But my god it was brutal! I then did my seated rows and incline DB bench press that I didn't have time to do yesterday and finished with 2x 1km runs.... I'm aiming to do 1km in under 5 minutes but my times for these two were 6.39 and 5.35. May seem slow as to some of you, but I've never been a good runner and this is a HUGE achievement for me to even run a 1km without stopping. Need to get the demon out of my head and change that mentality! The body wants to go further, but the mind always stops me :( Also started using betapump and the skinny pills today! Betapump definitely gave me more energy in my workout this morning, so I can't wait to use it for weight days!

Day 30 - Didn't write in here over the weekend, but stayed on track! It was a long weekend here in WA, which was handy to get a hang of the new program without having to rush :) Saturday - Today started with the last upper body workout from phase one. Smashed it out then stayed for a step class. An hour of extra cardio, just coz ;) The rest of the day was pretty chilled, did a lot of cleaning, sorted thru some draws and met up with a friend later in the afternoon for a walk around the lake. My sister and I had a friend over for most of the day on Saturday and they decided to have chips and kebabs for dinner, while I stayed loyal to my chicken stir-fry. Also had to deal with the smell of hot chips on Friday night too, but haven't caved! WIN! Sunday - Met up with a friend first thing and did Jacobs Ladder... It was her first time doing it, so was quite slow and only got out 3 laps... Devo :( Then went to the health freak cafe and had my egg white omelette with a fresh green apple juice... Yum :) The rest of the day was chilled and meal prep was done. Monday - New program for legs YAY! Smashed them. Going to love this new program! Bring it on! How killer are those calf raises?! The rest of the day, again, was chilled. I headed to the bf's place to help him with his meal prep and was introduced to Cars 1 & 2.... Lol. Today! New chest and back session.... Missed one super-set as I ran out of time, but will finish it tonight after grit. Had a PT session this morning also... - Assault bike (30 secs steady, 30 seconds flat out); - Box Jumps, failed at the original height, just couldn't get my head in the game :(); - Kettle bell swings (20kg x 10); - Bicep curl/ shoulder press (6kg DB x 10); - Sled Pull; - Sled Push; - Battle Ropes (single x 30sec); - Battle ropes (double x 30 sec) Dead at the end, but feeling awesome.... Bring on the rest of the week :D

Day 26 - Friday YAY! After my horrible down day yesterday, I found this quote online (pic above). Put everything into perspective for me... Now to try and practice not letting negativity get to me! :) Last night was VERY humid in Perth, but I went and got my grit cardio and abs done. My god! The amount of sweat that I had was INSANE! But I absolutely loved every second... My favourite class :) Gym this morning, only for half an hour but better than nothing, to do some level intervals on the cross trainer. Then did a sneaky 2 rounds of sit-ups and Russian twists with an 8kg med ball! I'm determined to get these abs showing by the end of this challenge, if it kills me! Tonight I will head back and do some interval training on the treadmill for a bit, then do my grit strength class. I'm at the gym so much, I may as well live there! Haha. On a plus note! Maxine's shared my week 4 transformation photo on their Insta page yesterday, so that made me feel awesome, lifted my mood and like everything I'm doing is 100% worth it! :) Happy Days! x

Day 25 - Today I'm feeling a little flat after receiving some negative comments yesterday :( To start with, this whole challenge, I've had people telling me I can't/won't be able to do it... This is a real kick in the guts and hard to deal with especially on top of my anxiety that I'm already fighting with. Since starting the challenge though, my anxiety has improved but I'm still a long way from where I want to be, mentally and physically. Last night I was explaining the new phase training program to a family member because I was excited about it and they pretty much said "You're not eating enough and over-training. How can that be good? Good-luck with that..." 1. I AM eating enough, I'm just eating the right foods and not junk; and 2. Who's business is it anyway! If I want to transform my body, I'm bloody well going to do it! I need to kick it to these hates and negative people but it's so hard! "Envy eats nothing but it's own heart..."

Will attach a photo of the hiit workout but for my abs I did 3 rounds of... 20 x sit-ups with 5kg plate; 40 x Russian twists with 5kg plate; 20 x butt raises. Day 23 - Last few days have been pretty strong :) Monday started with Leg day at the gym... Had to use the smith machine for my squats, as there were no squat racks available. I'm not sure on the difference in weights using the smith machine, but used similar weights to what I was using before, just went up to 50kg including the bar (assuming the bar is 20kg). That's something I need to figure out and work on. I then went back to the gym last night to do Shockwave and ATB. Today started with my upper body session, went up in my bench press to 30kg for the last set :) Also had a PT session which included 3 rounds of... - sled pushes with 35kg worth of plates on it; - travel squat jumps; - kettlebell squats with an upright raise (1 set at 14kg, 2 sets at 16kg); - kettlebell swings (1 set at 14kg, 2 sets at 16kg); - ab roller; - lower leg lift/raise. Tried to do it on an incline bench, but couldn't do more than a few reps, so went to the ground and did it. Something to work on :) Excited for my measurements to be taken tomorrow night. Weighed myself this morning and weight has almost dropped 4kgs since the start, so keen to see what my BF% and measurements are sitting at!

Day 21 - Feeling a bit down this weekend. Craving bad food, but determined to stay on track. I haven't cheated yet and I don't plan on it. Have done my meal prep for week 4 and even made the sweet potato hash from the approved recipes. They're amazing! 😍 Definitely makes the sweet potato portion of my two lunches a bit more exciting! Last night I went for a car cruise with my partner. I took my chicken stir fry with me, while he had grilld towards the end of the night. I was sitting in the restaurant next to him while he had a burger and huge thing of chips, sipping on water... He's on a weight loss journey too at the moment and has lost almost 10 kgs in 4 weeks! I'm so proud of him but when he left the whole thing of chips there, because he was full, I couldn't believe it! I would've totally finished them off! Hahaha. I soooo badly wanted a burger and/or chips, but I also need to remember my goals. "If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done." Attached photo is post workout yesterday. Seeing progress... 💪🏼

I took some comparison side pics today to see how I'm tracking and can see a little difference which is good! Will take my proper photos and measurements at the end of next week for week 4 check-in. Scales have gone down, so fingers crossed for measurements and BF % to come down also! Motivation is thru the roof right now :) Did my usual Thursday night grit cardio and CX last night and decided that I will go to the gym tonight with a friend and do grit strength... after another 2 rounds of my cardio circuit of course ;) Didn't get up early this morning for my cardio. Day 18 - Last night I went to the gym and completed a pump class. I used to do this every week, but since starting the challenge, I haven't done it. Safe to say the weights I used to use, seemed way to easy! I then did the above HIIT session. Was killer, but my heart rate didn't go as high as I'd like, only 70-80% max HR. Will try it again tomorrow morning for my cardio session, but maybe with a 1 minute row or run :) This morning was leg day for me. Upped all my weights and had a PT session afterwards, so he took me thru my squats. We also did chin-ups (assisted with a rubber band) and assisted tricep dips (almost lifting my body weight on these :D). Reached a new PB of 45kgs for 3 reps on my squats.... Compared to what I was doing a few months ago, I could barely like the 20kg bar alone, with 5kgs on it! Stoked! Didn't get time to do lunges though, so I will do those tonight after abs and grit cardio! Smashing through week 3! Bring on week 4 and the program change. Can't wait :) x

Day 17 - Have felt really tired and flat the last day or so. Last night's grit cardio and abs was hard but pushed thru! Was back at the gym this morning to do some cardio on the cross trainer (started at level 5 then went up every minute till I got to level 15, then went back down). I then did a quick abs and my biceps that I didn't have time to do yesterday. Weighed myself this morning (don't ask why), but I'm glad I did. Makes 3.2kgs lost since starting the challenge :) I think that's the result I needed to see this morning. I now know that the tired feeling is worth it for the results I'm getting already. Family is also noticing, so that's always a motivator too :)

Day 16 - On cloud 9 today! (apart from sore buns, but that's all part of the process ;)) Completed shockwave and ATB last night... ATB was a struggle. Lots of weighted, raised lunges & squats. Booty was on fire, but loved it! Today I went up in all my upper body weights and had a PT session straight after that incorporated both cardio and strength. - Assault bike 30secs steady and 30 secs flat out; - Squat jumps to reach the hoops suspended in the air; - Squat jumps along the sled track; - Sled pushes at 45kgs, there and back; - Finishing with push ups. The push-ups is where I really felt awesome! Just 2 weeks ago, I could barely do full, to the floor push-ups on my toes and had to use a barbell suspended in the air so I could do them. But today! I managed to do full, to the floor push-ups, on my toes, WITH a 5kg plate on my back! Progress is happening and I couldn't be happier!

There was a super loud grunter in the gym that I could've whacked over the head with a dumbbell hahaha. But seriously.... Is there any need for it?! I just wasn't motivated. But I got the workout done and will head back tonight for my weekly shockwave and ATB class.

Day 13 & 14 - Well I survived another challenge weekend, without any slip ups! Although it was a hard one! Saturday I had a well deserved sleep in and hit up the gym around lunch time to do my upper body work out. I then went home for an arvo of cleaning and organising, before heading to a gathering with a few friends. Here is where I ALMOST fell off the wagon. They had home made pizza, lollies, tim tams, spring rolls, dim sims and just everything that I normally would have caved to. However, I sat at the end of the table with the carrot, celery and cucumber sticks and munched on those... Even though there was a big juicy pizza staring right at my face! Towards the end of the night, I did have half a plain salada biscuit... I felt bad, but didn't have my morning snack earlier that day so figured it would be okay to replace that... Then headed home and had my chicken and vegie stirfry :) Sunday started with 5 laps of jacobs ladder and 3 times up and down the huuuuge steep hill near the ladder. God I was dead! Felt like an accomplishment at the end though :) I then went to my partners place and did our food prep for week 3. Sunday arvo was a bit tricky as all I wanted to do was snack! Probably because I missed lunch, due to meal prepping... but was eating bits and pieces of salad as I was cooking. I had some broccoli chips (x50 brand - literally just dried broccoli, sea salt and ricebran oil) 2 apples (one around lunch time) and some almonds. All in all, not a bad weekend.... At least the "monthlies" are over now so I can focus on no longer needing to snack or be naughty ;)

Have stuck to my food plan completely.... until this afternoon. It was only a handful of grapes, but I'm meant to avoid them on my plan :( could've been worse I guess! #TOTM

Day 12 - Cardio day! As much as I would've loved to have stayed in bed today, I got up and on my bike for the first time in over a year. Rode a nice 25kms to get back into it. Awesome way to start a Friday and keep motivated to stay on track for the 2nd challenge weekend. :)

Day 11 - Feeling like a bit of a failure today. Went to the gym to do my legs session and could only get three sets out :( Smashed a brutal PT session straight afterwards though (included 35kg deadlifts x 20 - using trap bar, 35kg farmers walk x 20- using trap bar, 40 kg sled pushes and 250m sprint on the rower for 3 rounds), but still so disappointed in myself. That "time of the month" always makes me feel pretty crappy. Going to the gym later on tonight again for grit cardio and abs... Have just got to push thru. On the plus side, no cravings for chocolate and food is staying on point. YAY Had to deal with my family having kebabs and hot chips for dinner last night.... The smell.... God I could've devoured them all, but didn't touch a single chip and feeling proud :)

Day 10 - Can't believe how this challenge is flying by! Today was a cardio day for me... So I went to a lake near home and did a bit of running and fast paced walking around it. It was roughly 5kms in total and took me around 45 minutes to complete. Looking to better my time throughout the challenge. Will go to the gym tonight, and do a bit more and some foam rolling. YAY! I'm currently sitting at my desk and the smell of donuts and Chinese is wafting away through the office. I'm remaining strong though! Have got my chicken, rice and broccoli to look forward to shortly :) Actually starting to love the food and have no cravings for anything sweet or bad. Haven't given in to temptation on this challenge yet and even though it's only been a week, I'm confident I wont. I don't want to have any regrets on my second try of this... I will complete it, knowing I've given my all :)

Just have to share this here.... Was the sweetest thing to happen to me today, especially on Valentine's Day :) I was stopped in the shopping centre by a little old man in a gofer... the convo went like this... "Excuse me miss, can I say something to you?" "Of course." I say, thinking he'd ask for directions... "You're my number three..." "Sorry?" "Well my first thought is one, two, then three..." "I don't understand?" "Because you're DDG - Drop Dead Gorgeous!" He then went on to say he's a decent man and wasn't trying to hit on me, just trying to make me smile and improve my day...Well that he did. Legit can't wipe the smile off my face. Day Made

Day 9 - I stuck to my guns and did Shockwave and ATB last night... Calves are still on fire today but still got up this morning and did my upper body session, then a half hour session with my PT.... a cardio killer circuit.... HELP! - Assault bike 30sec steady/30sec flat out - Sled Pushes with 30kgs on it - Battle rope slams 15sec single/15sec double - Push ups on toes, to a bar about 30cms off the ground - V-Sits with 3 kg med ball - 1 min plank For 3 rounds! Felt amazing at the end! Sitting here at work, drinking my choc latte shake and organising catering for the office for tomorrow and Thursday. I have a bet on with the boys that I won't touch a single piece of the catering, as they don't believe that I won't. My will power has been tested already last week, didn't give in and I'm not giving up on my goals. I didn't join this challenge to make a half assed effort... I'm in it 100% for 12 weeks! Back to the gym tonight for an abs class and grit cardio. The humidity in Perth at the moment is insane! Last nights gym classes were a sweaty mess, so looking forward to tonight! Hope everyone is smashing their goals!

So, I haven't written in here for a few days... Ooops... But here's my last few days in a nutshell :) Day 5 - Started with cardio at the gym... Did 15 minutes on the cross trainer at level 5 and 15 minutes on the treadmill at incline 5 and walking at 6kmph. I didn't go to work today because I wasn't feeling the best. But this allowed me to rest and recover, ready for the next weights session. Food stayed on point. Day 6 - Today started off with my upper body session. I then attended a car show... all day.... with my Dad. Bit of Dad-Daughter bonding time, which was nice. However, there was temptation EVERYWHERE! From mac and cheese grilled sandwiches, to ice cream. It was a real test of will power, but I'm so proud to say, I took my food with me and ate to plan. No naughtyness happened! YAY! There I was, in the middle of a car show, eating my broccoli, chicken and rice with my fingers, as I'd forgotten to take a fork. Idiot. Hahaha. Day 7 - Today was meant to be rest day, but that isn't even in my vocabulary so I went and did Jacobs ladder. For those not in WA, its a reeeally steep staircase in Perth City, 242 steps, and I completed it 3 times. I then rewarded myself with a catch-up breakfast with a friend at the Health Freak Cafe. Egg white omelette and freshly squeezed green apple juice. Staying on plan, even when eating out. Yeah! I then headed to my bf's place and did my meal prep for the week. Ready to smash week two out of the park! Day 8 - This mornings leg sesh was difficult as my calves were on FIRE from yesterday, but went up in all my weights and smashed it out. Back to the gym tonight to do an ATB class and possibly Shockwave.... We'll see ;)

Day 4 - Back in an awesome mindset.... Weighed myself at the gym this morning (I know naughty :P) but 2kgs down since the start of the challenge and feeling awesome! I went to the gym last night and did some HIIT intervals on the treadmill. 5 minute warm-up 15 minute, 1min intervals at 6kmph/10kmph 10 minute, 1min intervals at 6kmph/12kmph, except for the last round where I ran at 13kmph for 30 seconds... PB for me! And finally got back into the red zone on my myzone belt (90-100% max HR). Stoked! :D This morning was leg day again.... Did the brutal session with the same weights from Monday (will go up next week). Then followed it with a PT session of deadlifts (50kgs - quite alot for me, but working on increasing to 60-70 throughout this challenge), box jumps, jump lunges and sled pushes. Nutrition has been on point so far, except for an extra tub of chobani and protein powder last night. Living at home makes eating challenge meals so hard, especially when the family is eating everything I'm craving! Determined to stay strong though... Almost a week down. I've got this! x

Last nights mammoth cardio session.... Completed Grit Cardio at my gym and stayed in 80-90% max HR almost the entire time... Completely pooped at the end would be an understatement haha :)

Day 3 - Well I was planning to get up at 5:30am this morning to complete my cardio session and get it out of the way, but my body said no. Was feeling sore and tired all over after yesterdays 2 hour morning upper body workout and then an hour for abs and cardio last night... However because I missed my morning session, I now have no energy at work :( Lesson learnt! Note to self: Next time get up, grow some balls and just do it! >.< So it's back to the gym after work to do my HIIT treadmill session tonight.

Day 2 - Feeling super hungry today - just had lunch too! Did a few extra upper body exercises with my PT today, after training upper body from the program, with my friend. Took me almost 2 hours but felt awesome at the end. Just need to remember why I started this challenge and what my goals are to stay on track! :)
