Reason to start The Challenge

A few years ago I lost 20kg, which made me thinner, but flabby. I have always looked at women with beautifully toned bodies, with great admiration and jealousy. 12 months ago, I decided I was going to do it...I was going to have that gorgeous physique but was never able to get the motivation to stick to any sort of program. Then I saw #MaxinesChallenge on facebook and thought, that's it, it's my time, time to do it. So here I am, mentally ready and emotionally ready to get myself toned, healthy and happy.

What did you like most about The Challenge?

This challenge was remarkable. What I liked the most was "the challenge". It was hard but attainable and it works! also, I most enjoyed the feeling of belong, the camaraderie, to know others were going through the same things I was and feeling how I was. That everyone had bad days and good, strong days. It pushed me to keep going.

What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?

The hardest part of the challenge was continually pushing myself, not resting on my laurels, not reverting back to old habits because I was tired. 12 weeks is a long time (that seems to have flown by, in hindsight). Forcing yourself to workout six days a week, is hard, it takes dedication and strength.

What impact has The Challenge had on your life?

This challenge has had a massive impact on my life. It is not just a physical challenge, it is a journey of mind, body and spirit. It gave me the strength to do personal things I had been putting off, for twenty years.....it gave me inner strength as well as physical strength. Twelve weeks is long enough to form new habits and take them forward, which is what I and I'm sure many others will do. It has helped me implement good eating habits and a workout obsession into my everyday life, so that falling down will not happen.

What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?

DO IT...its hard, really hard, but its worth it. You have to dedicate yourself to it, but I'm living proof that it works!

Anything else you would like to tell us about your Challenge?

I loved it, going forward, January's challenge will be dedicated to strength. I have never stuck to anything for this long, let alone been devoted enough to know I'm going to do another. I didn't journal regularly, but I drew inspiration from those that did. The facebook page also was something I pulled a lot of courage from. I cant wait for January.
