Tone & Shape
I love running but keep getting injured. My body just isn’t strong enough to sustain the amount of running that I do. I’ve done a bit of Pilates but haven’t set foot in a gym for over 20 years. I find it really boring!I suffered an injury a few months ago and I was told by a specialist that my running days are limited. I needed to find a new challenge.A friend at work told me about Maxine’s Challenge and I was completely gobsmacked at the transformations. I have managed to keep slim from running but do not have any strength or muscle definition.I want muscles!!!Oh.... and I want to be able to do a chin up.... just one!
The Challenge was so easy to follow. Everything was clearly set out, I didn't have to think! The forum and facebook group were also a great source of information and support.
The hardest part for me was week 7-8. I started the Challenge so motivated and had excellent results for the first 4 weeks, losing almost 4kg. Then I got to week 7, I started to lose a little motivation as I felt I wasn't seeing any results and there was still a long way to go. When I did my week 8 photo's I realised that I had made some significant changes and it motivated me to keep going.Oh.... and I am also very competitive!
The Challenge has had a huge impact on my life. I am now waking up happy and full of energy rather than a grumpy, sad mess. I no longer see food as a treat but as fuel for my body. I've discovered a love for weight training. I am not using alcohol to unwind at the end of the day.
If you stick to the program, you will see results. I had never done any weight training, did not like the gym and was a cardio queen! I have learned to love weights and now only run a few times a week. Most of my weight training was done at home, with the exception of a few sessions in the gym at work. You do not need a lot of equipment. All I had was a weight bench, a barbell with a few weights and some dumbbells (all of which I got for Mother's Day!)
This is my first Challenge and I am thrilled with the results. I am 46 years old! I have not only transformed my body, but I am mentally so much stronger. This time last year I was a similar weight to my final check in but I looked terrible. My mother died suddenly and I was so consumed with grief that I could not eat. I looked sick and gaunt, my family were worried. This Challenge has taught me to respect my body. I am proud that I look fit and healthy. My goal at the start of the Challenge was to get myself some abs and do an unassisted chin up. I will be back next Challenge to complete that chin up!!!
